The good: Very nice tool box. Plenty of room for tools. Drawers close nicely without having to slam them. Nice drawer pulls, very solid feeling. Now the bad: One of the gas struts was broken when I bought it. (Top cracked off) Only was to get it replaced is to take tool box back to the store. VERY disappointed in Sears for this. I ended up ordering the part and paying $17 plus $6 for shipping. Craftsman is starting to loose me as a customer. Other thoughts: Its a shame drawer lines don't come with the tool box. I also didn't see any that fit without needing to be cut. (This is the deep 16" top.)

I purchased this top tool chest to go along with a new bottom and middle tool chest, replacing a set that I had for 25 years. Main reason for replacement was this chest has ball bearing sliders and is 16 inches deep instead of 12. Very nice product and easy to purchase on line and pick up at the store.

I already had an eight drawer lower cabinet that was out of storage space, so I need to add a top chest. I debated between the five or six drawer options and settled on the five drawer so I would have the three larger drawers for bigger tools. I'm very happy with my decision! Choose your top and middle chests carefully. Some of the Craftsman top boxes are 12" deep, and some (like this one) are 16" deep. That extra four inches really make a difference when you start filling it up. Anyhow, I couldn't be happier with my new chest! The top is wide open with no dividers and the ball bearing drawer slides are a nice quality touch. You won't be disappointed for the price.
I have had this chest for a year now, and I like it. Well made and the ball bearing drawers glide easy. I was able to organize my most of my tools. I'm am not a mechanic but I do have a fair collection of hand tools. I had more tools than I realized, and after I've owned it for a while I realized I should have gotten the 40 inch model. No knock on this unit, I underestimated my needs. If you are looking to get a nice top chest, check out this one.
The unit that I picked up was welded together out of square and would not sit on the base cabinet (or any flat surface) without rocking back and forth. Maybe it was an isolated instance, just somehow made it past quality control. Also, I wouldn't describe this as "Heavy Duty". Probably fine for home use where it won't be constantly opened and closed every day, but not made like the heavy duty units 20 years ago. If you have to drive very far to pick this up, may be wise to inspect it at the store before driving off.
