Got the machine, installed it. Missing a 3/8" flanged nut. Lots of parts in lots of bags but no rhyme nor reason to the grouping. Parts needed first were in bags with dissimilar parts in other bags. Put all the bolts in one bag, all the nuts in another, etc or package things up so everything that is needed at the same time is in the same bag. The chute only goes ~90 degrees off center. Sometimes you need to blow back further. I removed the limit stop plate and cut two new groves in the ring with my Dremel tool and ground off the projecting plastic piece. It now goes to about 120 degrees off center. The stops are not needed. The spiral turner can't turn when it runs out of slots. I also had to grind down a washer that is directly over the inside part of one of the preexisting slots because the spiral turner got hung up. REALLY BAD DESIGN. My major problems relate to the reason I chose this - the electric lift. Whoever designed this did a quick and dirty with a cheap stock Chinese winch. WHY can't people spend a few $$ to have someone who speaks English write the English owners manual????? Problem 1: The swage on the winch cable jams into the cable on the winch before the up limit switch is hit, blows the fuse. Blew 2 fuses figuring this out testing the installation before I even tried to blow snow. Blew 2 more fuses blowing snow, the lift/drop is not smooth and there is no way to tell when you are near the trouble point going up. The cable under tension crams down into the wraps below and the winch can't work at all. If they use this winch, they should provide a short cable, it only needs to pull a few inches and the swage wouldn't jam if there were less cable. 49' is WAY too much for this application though it could be a good tractor accessory when not using it with the snowblower. What they REALLY need is a short bar instead of cable. Problem 2: Blew snow for about an hour yesterday. Worked fine other than blowing 2 fuses lifting just a little too much on uneven ground. Put it in the barn, lowered the blower to the floor and cleaned the snow off the augers and fan so they wouldn't freeze. Today I went to blow again. Lifted the blower moved forward, tried to lower it - no go. Stuck in an unusable up position, no blown fuse. IMPOSSIBLE to pull the clutch release **** when there is tension on the cable (still very hard to pull it when there ISN'T tension). Had to force (with MUCH effort) the cable loop off the blower to put it back on the floor. Problem 3: much more minor but - when you need to disconnect the wires for the limit switches, the connectors have NOTHING for you to grip on the switch side but the wires and 1/4" of plastic. PLEASE, use connectors that are easy to connect and disconnect. After ONE HOUR of use, I have an unusable $1,800 blower and snow in my driveway. According to the winch manual, I have: - a bad switch - broken wires or bad connection - defective motor. They all worked fine yesterday.
This unit replaced a 42" snowthrower that, after almost 20 years of use, simply wore out and no parts were available. My tractor model is 917.276361, a 2005 GT5000 25hp. According to the fit chart, it won't fit. I am fairly mechanically inclined and this unit shared a lot of the same parts as the other Agri-Fab unit that was listed for my tractor. I took a chance and ordered this one in April 2014 as this is the unit that I felt would best suit my needs. I was prepared to do a little mounting modification. The additional fit kit was needed as well. Once I got the unit and started assembling, the only bracket that didn't quite fit was the winch bracket. That required drilling two new holes and some minor grinding of the bracket to fit around an existing bolt head. Other than that, everything fit according to the manual. Agri-Fab could easily modify that winch bracket and then this unit would fit a lot more tractors. Once assembled and on the tractor, the unit performs extremely well. Here in MN, I just had a 14" snowfall of heavy, wet snow (11/10/14). This was going to be the test. This unit moved the snow better than I expected. It did not bog down or shake when moving that much snow (the old one sure did with heavy snow!). The 50" bite speeds up the job. This is a heavy duty unit that certainly appears to be well constructed.
I am quite please with the operation of this attachment. Ours has an electric winch to lift and lower the thrower. My only two disappointments are that the brush guard does not fit with the brackets needed to attach the thrower and the wire harness gets close to the muffler area and needed a high temperature heat shield tube to protect the wires. The standard black split loom tubing kept melting. For disclosure, I am a Sears associate.

I love this item the 2014 winter Northeast has been hard, and this attachment on my sears 24 hp garden tractor has been awesome. I have a 350' gravel driveway and its been eating up the snow. I did break one auger shear bolt. no issue replaced it and was on my way. Do recommend getting chains and weight for tractor . Also make sure you lift auger a slight bit keep weight on front wheels , easier to steer.
We purchased this as an upgrade to the Craftsman 42" Snow thrower attachment and we are pleased with the unit now that we have it installed and fixed. There was an issue with one of the pulleys down by the area that runs the drive belt. After the 2nd use, the pulley split in half and the unit was not able to be used. A quick call to PartsDirect they had a replacement part sent free of charge. Once the new pulley was installed this blower performed as we had hoped! We were able to clear a LOT of snow for our entire neighborhood block, including the wet heavy snow that the snow plows dump at the end of our driveways! We have used this several times now and am very pleased with the performance. We also purchased the chains and weight for the back of the tractor, a must to ensure proper function.

Recently purchased this blower and it took me a little under 2 hours to assemble. I read the manual online before purchase so i was prepared for the assembly portion. The winch does an excellent job lifting the blower with a clearance of around 4 inches. Chains and wheel weights are a must. Blower is mounted on 24 hp model 28856 tractor and has plenty of power to blow snow 40-50 feet. I find the steering is improved by using the winch to slightly lift the blower to put a little weight on the front wheels when blowing. I also like the 50" width of the blower as it gives adequate clearance for the front wheels. My only regret is i didn't buy it earlier in the season.

this item had missing hardware and I found the instructions to be confusing. I ended up going to ********** to get that hardware i needed. What was confusing with the instructions was the discription of the hardware was not correct. For instance; it stated there will possibly be extra items left over and to discard them except for 2 shear pins labeled item (Y) and 2 nylon lock nuts. Item (Y) is a washer, item (V) is the shear pins. The missing hardware was to the winch, which of coarse was the very first thing to be installed. Total time to install the winch was 3 hours, (********** is 35 minutes away). I had to stop to do other things while the weather is holding. I was hoping this would be a 2-3 hour job to install, not the case here. I will recomend the this item, but inventory your harsware and read the instutions fully before you start. Cheers.
