Well designed. No dust. Good value.
My first project for this sander was to sand the top of my old workbench. It is 24 feet long and 2 feet deep. 30 years of paint, grease and grime had left it looking pretty sad. Just one hour later my old workbench looked almost new. This is my third 1/3 sheet sander. It is the best by far. Here is what I like: First: Fabulous ergonomics. The handles feel good in your hands. They provide good, firm, steady control. The on/off switch and its lock are right where they should be. The sander?s vibration doesn?t get to your arms either. The weight is just right: It feels substantial but is not too heavy. The result of all these things is a quality sanding job ? accomplished quickly. Second: The sandpaper is relatively easy to mount (use any brand of standard 1/3 sheet; I cut full sheets to save money). The sandpaper stays in place, doesn?t shift or tear. The sheets last longer than I was used to. Third: The dust pick-up actually works! While a small amount of dust was left on the surface, none went into the air. None. Zip. Nada. My wife likes this too because she knows my second project is to refinish her maple block kitchen counter tops. Four: The small stuff: The LED light helps a little in the dark corners. The plugged-in indicator light reminds you to unplug the sander when you are done working. Finally: Price: Even at its list price of $50, it is a good value: less than a third of the list price of the German and Japanese brand names. Also, it is often on sale. Using my Sears credit card (5% off) and Sear?s Shop Your Way bonus points (2% off), I stole mine for $41.

Decent sander
My sander died while doing a cabinet refinish. I could not find another 1/3 sheet sander available now besides this one. The finish was good. I did not like the hard case dust collector as is would not allow me to make full stroke to my counter tops like my Makita would. Also another down fall would be the dust collector would vibrate off and found no way to hook a vac hose to the sander due to the alignment pin that is cast in the outlet. The light I found was all but useless, (add more or take it away). For a quick flat resurface with no obstacles this is a good sander. If you are working on cabinets with large surfaces with tight quarter think about the hard case dust collector and the paper clip lever ends that stick out.

I bought this for the collector feature. I will be using it to sand drywall so I am hoping it will do the job

Craftsman 1/3 Sheet Sander

Nice upgrade from my old Black & Decker 1/3 Sheet Sander. Many new improvements over the over 20 year old sander. My hands don't feel like they are still vibrating, like the old one used to do. I also have a lot less dust around my work area. I like the comfort grip handles, also.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Love it!

NIce upgrade from the old version of this sander. I like that added headlight on the tool, it actually comes in handy!
