Get the Job Done Fast with the Max Axess Auto Ratchet

The CM C3 Max Axess auto ratchet is powered by Craftsman's top-selling platform, the long-life C3 19.2V battery. That means you're not tied to air hoses or cords. You loosen and tighten quickly and easily, anywhere. You also carry fewer tools, because the pass-through design eliminates the need for deep sockets, and easily tightens long rods, too. The auto ratchet comes with the three socket sizes you use most and an adapter that drives every 3/8-inch drive standard socket.

With the Max Axess auto ratchet you loosen or tighten at up to 225 rpms, with a variable speed control, and switch to manual for a finger-tight finish. In low light situations, use the included LED illumination, and in cramped spaces take advantage or the small head designed to get in anywhere. Get the job done with this efficient portable tool that puts the power in your hands.

  • Tough, durable CM C3 Max Axess auto ratchet for home and garage
  • With reliable fade-free 19.2 Volt lithium-ion battery
  • Compatible with any Craftsman C3 19.2V battery
  • Fasten and unfasten long rods and bolts
  • Forward/reverse toggle switch
  • Paddle switch for fastening speed up to 225 rpm
  • Lock switch avoids unintentional starts
  • LED light switch for bright illumination with low power drain
  • Work anywhere, and reach tight spots
  • Includes 3/8in., 7/16in., and 1/2 in. sockets and square 3/8in. adapter
  • One-year limited warranty

Works great with max axxess sockets. Adapter needs to be revised
The ratchet works great if you're using the max axxes sockets. Just like what other people are saying about the 3/8" adapter, it pops out if you put too much pressure. Looking at the adapter I found out that the flange should be on the same side as the 3/8" pin. Just like the max axxes sockets. Hopefully they'll make a revised adapter. Power is good for what it's intended for.

Not as good as I had hoped.
I was looking forward to this new product because I had an IR ratchet that I liked but replacement batteries were very expensive. When I received the new max axcess ratchet it was light and easy to handle. The first time I used it it was powerful and had good torque. The problem I have with it is when using the adapter to use a standard socket the adaptor pops out when you put pressure on the bolt or nut you are trying to remove - very frustrating!! The adaptor needs to be made with the flange that prevents it from pushing out on the opposite side. I hope craftsman comes out with a fix for this.

Great For Weekend Warrior

The Craftsman C3 Max Axess Auto Ratchet is a great tool for the weekend DIYer. It's strong enough for most around the house/backyard projects. Perfect for making a swingset or one of those backyard play mansions! It is a little loud (regarding other reviews), but it's a power tool, not a toy!! It'll also do well with lighter duty auto repairs - just be realistic about the ft/lbs of torque needed. The feel is good and balanced, while being solidly constructed. Be prepared to buy more of the open Axess sockets unless you are just doing the basics or using the 3/8ths drive adapter. The only possible "flaw" I noticed was that the 3/8" drive adapter should have been designed to push through and 'click-lock' from the inside, not a big deal if you're not pushing down on the head. The Ion battery is very strong, although I too wish there was a battery level indicator on it. I still have a lot more to try with it!

Low torque, and lacks any redeeming qualities

Overall, I felt that the ratchet was too low on torque to be truly useful. For example, it cannot break off my car's lug nuts when torqued to 70 lb-ft. The unique shape means that it can fit in tight places like under a car or in the wheel well, but the ratchet does not have enough torque to loosen suspension bolts. I tried the ratchet with both the lithium ion battery and the XCP lithium ion battery. I do not own a Max Axess socket set, and my automotive work involves metric sizes, so I was forced to use the 3/8" adapter. For everyone saying that the adapter falls out, they have likely installed it backward; it works fine if installed properly. When used in lower torque applications, the impact mechanism creates a lot of noise and vibration, and the 225 rpm speed is relatively slow. As a result, the auto-ratchet was never my first choice of tool. For these reasons, I feel the usefulness of this tool is not worth the cost so I would not recommend it.

Decent product

I received this about a month ago and just recently had the opportunity to put it to good use while putting together an outdoor playset. Here are my pros/cons: Pros: *Easy to use. Sockets snap in and out without too much trouble *Fits in tight spaces *Good battery life Cons: *Only came with a few sockets. I didn't have any Max Axess sockets before receiving it and it only came with 4 or so. Thankfully it included a 3/8" adapter so I could use my existing socket set, but this also increases the length. *Not as powerful as I hoped. It does a decent job and definitely made the job faster, but I often had to pull out my socket wrench to tighten it further. Overall a good tool, just could use a little more power and more sockets.

Good tool for what is intended

I agree with others that the adapter is wrong and needs to be reversed. It tends to pop out as you put pressure on sockets. The 3 sockets that come with the kit are nice but superficial as you need an entire set to be effective. It is nice that you can use it manually if the torque does not loosen on its own. A bit on the loud and annoying side with the torque clicking. On board light is nice. It is a good tool for the average homeowner/do it yourselfer.

Works good for what it's intended for.

This product is good when I just need to unbolt a few things without having to turn on my compressor and wait for it to fill up. It may not be as powerful as a compressor air tool but it works fine for most bolts that aren't on too tight. Much better than ratcheting bolts off with a regular rachet. It's a nice addition to my bag of tools.

A little bulky, but no air hose holding you back!

Other than the bulk of the battery, I love the ratchet. I have used it for a few weeks now and am impressed, although there are only 3 max access sockets included which I have yet to use the 3/8" adapter works well. The lithium battery although bulky is light enough compared to the old batteries that it makes it more manageable.

Really handy tool

For the purpose for which this tool is intended, it is an excellent addition. While certainly not as powerful as an air tool, the auto ratchet is very handy for working on cars, and other around the house uses. I found the 3/8" socket adapter very useful. For tight fasteners, the auto ratchet can be turned like a normal ratchet. Once a tight fastener is loosened a bit, the tool will quickly and easily remove the nut or bolt. I was pleasantly surprised at the torque generated by this tool. I've used the tool with both the lithium ion battery that came with the tool as well as the nicad batteries I already have for my other C3 Craftsman cordless tools. Works great with either type of battery. I would highly recommend this tool.

Expected Quality and Performance

The C3 MAX AXESS Auto Ratchet has proven to be quite useful. Instead of reaching for my socket wrench, I've been grabbing the auto ratchet (It helps speed up the process). The few sockets that come with are great, but a full set of Max Axess sockets is a must. The 51 piece Max Axess socket set that I have paired up extremely well with the auto ratchet. Especially the extension piece. It helped to get at the harder to reach bolts. Overall, a solid tool with expected results.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
