I have an older model that is awaiting parts to see if it will still work (14 years of service...pretty darn good durability). I needed to complete a project when the older one spang a leak at the trigger, so got this "new, improved" version. Yes, it is light weight. Yes, it still shoots 1/2" crown staples reliably. Yes, it has a much prettier designer color coordination design. However...a MAJOR problem is this rear exhaust as it tends to shoot air right back into your face when you are stapling above your head! Whoever thought this was a good idea must not actually use this type of tool in the workplace. I guess it will work OK, but now I really hope that my replacement parts will get my older model up and running (probably just needs the trigger seals replaced) as I would go back to using it as the primary 1/2" 20 gauge crown stapler as it has a ROTATING top-vent that let you aim the exhaust air away from yourself. The fixed small bore "rear exhaust" design is flawed and dangerous! Make sure you are wearing really good eye protection (and even hearing protection as this actually INCREASES the noise for the operator). Too bad that Sears changed the design on a really good product and made it a safety hazard (which is why it gets a "poor" rating). If you use this tool, make sure it is on work that is BELOW you and do NOT staple too far ahead of were you are standing/kneeling to reduce the risk of eye injury.

I don't know when some of these reviewers bought their stapler. I purchased mine about 8 or 9 years ago. I have been to ******, **********, Northern Tools, and ************** Tools. Nothing will fit. I would not say ANY 20 gauge will work, because they will not work with the gun I have. Some staples are too small, some are about a hundredth of an inch to big. None will fit. I am going to go and try the duo fast that where recommended but I don't know. I own thousands worth of craftsman and tradesman tools and also thousands in Kenmore items. No MORE!!

Sears sells the stapler but no staples. Seriously, make and sell a stapler and no staples for it. Why buy this from sears to only have to chase around town for staples. Hard to imagine how far down hill Sears has gone in the last 30 years since I bought my first Craftsman tool...

I was Very Disapointed in the product support. I bought this Stapler, paid good money for it and it seamed to be a good quality tool. But after checking several Hardware stores, large chain and small neigborhood stores. I finally check at 3 different Sears Stores and then online, finally talking to a Craftsman guy at the Parts for tools phone number. First he gave me all of the part numbers for the Staples, then proceeded to tell me that Non of them were avalible any longer. Even though the tool was only 2 months old and they still sell them in the stores right Now! They come with 500 each of 2 different sizes, but once those are gone, I guess you are suppose to just throw it in the trash, because that's about all it will be good for, or $100.00 paper weight. I have a garage full of Craftsman tools that I love and use all the time, but this was pretty disapointing. Kent

The stapler worked like a charm through 4 chair seats, 4 chair backs. However, no one at the store could tell me what I should use for replacement staples. The online "chat" guy gave me the wrong information, customer service gave me obsolete part numbers. I finally got the correct info from another reviewer. Duo-fast 5012-c staples worked perfectly. Duo-fast also makes staples in other lengths but I do not know the part numbers.

I bought this stapler recently. I am a roofer. I have to have a durable stapler for applying tar paper. This stapler is excellent. As for buying staples. You can use Duo Fast staples which are excellent and easy to purchase (****!). I was surprised to discover that the staples supplied with the gun will not work in my Duo Fast stapler!! This is a great stapler at a reasonable price!!!

Duofast, Senco, Spotnails, and various others make staples that fit this gun. Any 1/2" crown, 20 gauge staples will work. Do not listen to the reviews saying you can't get staples. They are WRONG. I have been using this gun with Duofast staples for several years with no problems whatsoever.

The staple gun itself is quite dependable. Unfortunately, the proprietary staples (20 Ga 1/2" wide crown) appear to be no longer available through Sears. (Oddly they still show up on the Sears web site (for at least the last 3-4 months, perhaps much longer.) as temporarily out of stock in every size.) I will never purchase a staple gun (or other similar product) from Sears again unless the staples are readily available through other sources of supply. It is a major pain in the ?#$$$ to resort to buying odd lots of staples from **** or Craigslist in order to keep feeding this thing. JM

This stapler was a replacement for a craftsman that we had for 20 year. We've had this one for two years.Duo-Fast 5561 50-Series 5018C 9/16" Galvanized Staples - 5,000 per Box on ******.com. Had a project and fired 20-30 staples without jamming. Wish I could find longer but these work fine. Good Stapler.
