Great Wrench - Poor Case
The wrench itself is very nice - works very well. It requires batteries which are not included, and no notice that I could find that they were required - so I was home and trying to use it when I discovered I needed 3 LR44 (387) batteries. And the case it comes in is completely worthless except as a display. You can not easily remove the wrench from the case. For the price, Sears should spend an extra $0.05 and provide a blow molded clamshell case.

Digi-Click Torque Wrench
Not a bad wrench. When it works, it's very convenient to have the digital display to set the torque setting. BUT, I've had this wrench for about 4-5 months now, and if I leave the batteries in the wrench, it'll drain them fairly quickly, e.g. within a month. For now I just remove the batteries when I'm done, but if I happen to forget, it's somewhat annoying.

Disappointed

After only two uses, the ratchet mechanism is failing. Perhaps the wrench I received happened to have a bad component. Having said that, the torque mechanism works great so I will be exchanging it with another as I really do like the wrench. It is very easy to use and I like the ability to quickly see the torque and switch between measurement units.

Craftsman Digital Torque Wrench

I purchased this torque wrench on sale. More expensive than I would usually purchase but the lifetime warranty is worth it. Best torque wrench I have ever owned, digital reading & has inch pounds & foot pounds for ease of use. Would buy again!

horrible case design, hard to find batteries

The case is clearly designed to show off the wrench in the store "i'm pretty, buy me!" Two piece design - bottom half holds onto the wrench way to tight! I have to turn the case over, pry both sides out and let the wrench fall into my lap. The top half is thin flat clear plastic held in place with 6 metal screws. The case was never designed to be used once you get the wrench home. A non-digital torque wrench from craftsman from a few years back has a case with a hinged lid and sliding plastic locks. It is a simple design that works for the consumer for the life of the product, but it didn't help sell the product so we are stuck with garbage. This is the high end digital wrench with the low end packaging. The batteries were in the smallest possible packaging that was almost lost when I had to flip the case over to pry the wrench from the case.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Sturdy torque wrench. Came with batteries. Case could be better.

Just to rebuttal some of the earlier comments, as of Jan 25 2014, this torque wrench DID indeed come with 3 of the batteries it needed (LR44). So, that's a few extra bucks saved right there. Upon first getting the wrench, I could tell that it came with a sub par case. The wrench doesn't snap in, or is in any way secure as it just sits there. If the case is turned upside down, it will fall right out. This was something that I could live with, but it wouldn't hurt for the manufacturer to pony up and include a nice case for a few extra bucks. This was pretty much the only reason I gave it 4 stars. When models 1/2 the price of this one come with a nice case, I see no reason why you wouldn't include one with this. I also wanted to take a deeper look into the battery usage of the device. I hooked it up to a precision amp meter and power supply set to 4.5V ( = 3 * 1.5V LR44 batteries in series). The following were my readings: Off - 6.83uA On - 2.95mA The capacity of LR44 batteries is ~150mAh (milliamp hours). So taking that into account, if the torque wrench was on all the time it would be able to last a max of about 50 hours. But, the torque wrench shuts off it's display after 10 minutes so you could expect it to last longer than that. If you never turned the wrench off yourself, you could expect have the power to turn it on ~300 times. These numbers are all calculated though and were from power measurements I made. The little folding manual says to "Remove batteries when wrench is stored for extended periods", which other people have noted as well. 6.83 MICRO amps is a really really low amount of power being consumed when it's off, so I'm not sure why other people claim the really low battery life. With the battery issue addressed, the wrench itself feels to be very well built. The torque is changed in .5 ft/lb increments which is close enough to what I need it for. The adjustment **** is easy to turn and has a nice confirming click when lock it in place. Will keep an eye on the battery issue and keep this post updated if things change. At this price, you really can't beat the features it has.

Ratchet Mechanism Didn't Last

Used occasionally over the last year and finally the ratchet mechanism broke. Unit did not come with batteries. Bought the same replacement as it was my only real option in store and needed it that day. No batteries in the new unit either. Hope this one lasts a little longer. Warranty is only 90 days.

Great torque wrench

This torque wrench works great. It is a little longer than the original click wrench. It is nice to be able to switch to other units when working on imported cars. Also it only needs to be set to less than 25% torque when stored so that is about 67 ftlb. Much better than having to wind it all the way down. Yes it does take batteries as all other electronics do. It does not run on magic, it does run on 3 lr44 batteries. A 357 battery is the same and my local dollar store has multi packs of button batteries so I paid $1 for 6 357's and they work fine. I can't believe all the reviewers bashing this because of the batteries. With all the sales, coupon code, reward points accumulated from previous puchases and reward points received from this purchase it only cost me $19 in the end.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
