Sturdy torque wrench. Came with batteries. Case could be better.
Just to rebuttal some of the earlier comments, as of Jan 25 2014, this torque wrench DID indeed come with 3 of the batteries it needed (LR44). So, that's a few extra bucks saved right there. Upon first getting the wrench, I could tell that it came with a sub par case. The wrench doesn't snap in, or is in any way secure as it just sits there. If the case is turned upside down, it will fall right out. This was something that I could live with, but it wouldn't hurt for the manufacturer to pony up and include a nice case for a few extra bucks. This was pretty much the only reason I gave it 4 stars. When models 1/2 the price of this one come with a nice case, I see no reason why you wouldn't include one with this. I also wanted to take a deeper look into the battery usage of the device. I hooked it up to a precision amp meter and power supply set to 4.5V ( = 3 * 1.5V LR44 batteries in series). The following were my readings: Off - 6.83uA On - 2.95mA The capacity of LR44 batteries is ~150mAh (milliamp hours). So taking that into account, if the torque wrench was on all the time it would be able to last a max of about 50 hours. But, the torque wrench shuts off it's display after 10 minutes so you could expect it to last longer than that. If you never turned the wrench off yourself, you could expect have the power to turn it on ~300 times. These numbers are all calculated though and were from power measurements I made. The little folding manual says to "Remove batteries when wrench is stored for extended periods", which other people have noted as well. 6.83 MICRO amps is a really really low amount of power being consumed when it's off, so I'm not sure why other people claim the really low battery life. With the battery issue addressed, the wrench itself feels to be very well built. The torque is changed in .5 ft/lb increments which is close enough to what I need it for. The adjustment **** is easy to turn and has a nice confirming click when lock it in place. Will keep an eye on the battery issue and keep this post updated if things change. At this price, you really can't beat the features it has.

Digi-Click Torque Wrench
Not a bad wrench. When it works, it's very convenient to have the digital display to set the torque setting. BUT, I've had this wrench for about 4-5 months now, and if I leave the batteries in the wrench, it'll drain them fairly quickly, e.g. within a month. For now I just remove the batteries when I'm done, but if I happen to forget, it's somewhat annoying.

Good DIY home garage wrench

Not a bad tool for the price, highly recommend purchasing the 3 year warranty for an extra 15 bucks...with craftsman tools you'll need it. Not to say this thing is junk, but even with casual DIY use, after a year or so, their electronic & air tools break. My biggest gripe about this model is the battery size, it would be nice if they used standard AA or 123 lithium types instead of watch batteries, but it's not a huge deal. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the lack of a enclosure. The plastic display case that it comes in is all you get, there is no lockable top, no click tabs, not even some foam padding considering it's a precision tool, it would be nice to see Craftsman spend a few extra bucks and ship these tools with a padded molded plastic case. Otherwise, a great home garage wrench.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works great, great price

I bought it from sears at just $70. I've used it on numerous lug nuts, so simple to use and batteries were included. I look further, to use it even more. I have the warranty because i know torque wrenches can be delicate.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not bad

The item isn't bad, could use a better case but did come with the batteries. I just recently purchased and I like the product, though I cannot speak for the longevity of the item yet.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very Poor Quality

This wrench was used to turn and torque exactly 17 bolts before the gears were stripped. All were done well within the service range of the wrench, and the failure occurred torquing a lug nut at 100 lbs. The bad news for me was that the 17th bolt was turned about 4 months after I purchased it, NO love from sears on the failure. 90 day warranty for a reason. I will never buy another product from sears again. Could not be more disappointed.

Great Tool!

A digital readout torque wrench that is very easy to use. Very economically priced, especially when I bought on sale. Easy to read display makes adjusting to desired torque quick and simple.Plus converts between ft. inch and Newton quickly and easily.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Digital Display Quits Early

At first, I loved this torque wrench. The display was easy to figure out and easy to adjust, and the wrench is long, which makes it very easy to torque things at 200 lbs and higher. But within about 3 uses, the digital display began to stop working. It would always come on, but just show 000 and couldn't be adjusted. Occasionally, by taking out the batteries, and simply putting the same batteries back in, the display would then come back and be useful. But even then, the display would switch through all off the available units of torque, ft/lb, in/lb, N/m, etc, about every 2 seconds and I would just have to keep adjusting and wait for my prefered unit to pop up and hope that I had it torqued right. Now, finally the display is gone. It will only show 000, and I can't fix it. I have tried new batteries, and have even taken it apart and put it back together, but still no joy. I am outside of the 1 yr warranty and therefore, can't get any help from Craftsman/Sears. My lesson is learned, I will stick with the old school mechanical set torque wrenches from now on. To be clear, I had no mechanical issues with the wrench itself, all of my complaints come from the very flaky display. But the torque wrench is useless without knowing what torque you have it set to.

Disappointed

After only two uses, the ratchet mechanism is failing. Perhaps the wrench I received happened to have a bad component. Having said that, the torque mechanism works great so I will be exchanging it with another as I really do like the wrench. It is very easy to use and I like the ability to quickly see the torque and switch between measurement units.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
