We bought this as a birthday present for my father to replace his that he recently damaged. He loves it better then his orhinal one he paid more then $300 for and we got the craftsman for $80 plus 5 year warrenty for $12.
I just bought this over the $50 version from Sears -I figured it would perform better than the cheaper one. I don't know how poorly the less expensive one works, but I am POSITIVE this one is ****....utter ****. Can't even break lug nuts from my cars that I torque with a craftsman torque wrench 100 ft/lbs. REALLY?!?!?! This impact wrench is supposed to put up 400 ft/lbs of torque; even if the reverse is 1/2 the forward torque it still more than enough to break lug nuts. I'm not about to break this thing apart to see what's going on inside, but I suspect some internal air restriction because it sounds like I'm only putting 30psi into the darn thing and at 90 psi this thing should be squeeling -bbrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooo bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooo but instead its sounds like a sickly put-put-put-put-put
I've had this gun for about 4 years now and it's been able to handle everything I could throw at it. No problem with the standard tire rotations but I was most impressed when it didn't even struggle when removing suspension bolts that hadn't moved in 11 years. Not sure why all the bad reviews? I will say that the gun is weak if not attached to a proper air supply.
This impact is a great price and feels good while using but it has no power. I tried to remove the lug nuts off a mini van and it wouldn't budge them. I ended up using a 3/8" breaker bar to loosen them. I had the same problem with lugs on a Silverado truck. After I reinstalled the lugs with this impact I feel I used the torque wrench more than I should have after using an impact. I have never had a problem with Craftsman tools in the past but this tool doesn't cut it and I am ashamed of Craftsman for that. I thought I just had a lemon tool but after reading other reviews I'm not alone.

working on my friends van we had to use my craftsman 1/2''dr impact wrench to get the lugs off and it worked great, using my craftsman 1/2''dr impact wrench on my trailer wheels too. the impact wrench feels great in my hand, changing sockets is fast and east too
I was forced to buy this product. The one that came with my compressor was crap. And of course they could not or would not repair it so to have a good one I had to but this one. this one works great. But beware of the free stuff from Sears. It is crap.
I have been using this product at house for any mechanicl needs that may arise and I have to say, it gets the job done. The appearance is really nice, though I wish it had some kind of protective covering to keep it from getting scratched up when I get caught up the moment and forget to lay it on something soft or smoothe... concrete is not very friendly with the coating. Other than that it works great! Couldn't be happier........
I bought this assuming that Craftsman made quality products. This is my first experience with an air tool from them. This impact wrench had trouble getting lug nuts off just about every car that came into my shop today. Under stress it would simply stop working and expel air through the exhaust. I couldn't trust it to torque them back down, so I used someone else's. It sounds really cool and quiet, and it looks nice. This is also heavier than some of the other guys impact wrenches in the shop. This is a worthless tool. It's back in the box after it's first day of use.. tomorrow it's going back to the store.
