Equipped with a 2-amp motor, this compact unit is designed with ergonomic front and rear handles for comfort and control. Features live-tool indicator, slide switch, dust collection bag and paper clamp system. Comes with 3 sheets sandpaper, dust collection bag and adapter, paper hole punch and case. Warranted. Wt. 3.6 lbs.
The powerful 2.0 AMP motor provides torque, power and durability for a variety of continous sanding applications. At 12,000 OPMs (no-load speed) and a 1/16-in orbit, this sander povides faster material removal when matched with the correct sandpaper grit for the surface being sanded. The ergonomically designed rear handle and frong assist handle with a molded-in comfort grip provides for maximum balance , control and gripping comfort, which reduces sanding time and operator fatigue. TheCounter-Balance System is precision-tuned and reduces vibration for smooth operation and less operator fatigue. The Live Tool Indicator is a green LED light that comes on when the sander is plugged into a live power outlet. The on/off slide is switch is conveniently located for easy control. Two paper clamps provides secure paper retention and simmple, fast paper changes. A built-in dust collection system collects dust from the work area through holes, allowing for a cleaner work area. The High Impact-resistant Housing helps protect the tool from damage and reduces the weight.

i have had to return this sander twice in three months and it broke. would not recomend this product to anyone.

Loved if when I first got it. High RPM, smooth running and relatively quiet. Easy on the hands. Lately though it's been slow starting with RPM wandering all over the place and now a lingering electrical smell. While it seems reasonably well built the bearings and cooling system just aren't up to handling more than one or two small projects. Off to buy a non-Sears replacement.

The sander works fine. Like the ability to hook to shop-vac. Problem is that standard 1/3 sheet is too small. The sheets that come with the sander work fine, but they are just a bit longer. Had to purchase full sheets and use the sheets that came with the sander to cut my own. A minor inconvenience, and other than that the sander is quite solid.

i had a B & D 1/3 sheet sander for 30 yrs that finally died. I searched everywhere for another 1/3 and finally found one made by Sears. No comparison. With a 1/16 orbit it takes forever to do any work I returned it

I stopped buying craftsman tools when they switched to japanese tools under the craftsman name. They warrantied the tools but that didn't helped my knuckles ! Lied to again,1/3 sheet of sand paper doesn't fit this sander, the good Norton sandpaper is 3/8ths of an inch short. Sears sandpaper that comes with the sander is trash. They always change something so there tools are not interchangeable.

The Sander works real well, however, the sheets are to be left to desire. They broke after less than two minutes of sanding.

I have used Craftsman products since the 1970's with great results. This sander has great dust pickup, but you have to remember to punch the holes in each new sheet. My complaint is that my sander only lasted three projects, albeit large deck refinishing jobs. At $40 a pop that's not a good value. Repair vs. replace? Disappointed, yet will probably give one more a shot due to the excellent dust pickup. Grade: B -

Sander has done an ok job for me so far, but I have gone to a hardware store and picked up 1/3 sheets, and the sheets aren't long enough to remain attached. I would think that all sanders would use standard sheets that would fit any 1/3 sander. The sheets I purchased are about an inch shorter than the ones that came with the sander, and they won't hold. Do I have to purchase Sears sandpaper to use??

I used this to make a bookcase last year. Loved it at that time. Doing some work in the house and I and got this sander out. After using for a good amount of time. It literally went up in smoke. Leaving the smell of burnt electrical wires and smoke bellowing out of the sander. Best part, it happened just after the one year warranty expired. Craftsman just isn't what it used to be.
