Is this not the benchmark for all ratchets of this type? For many years a ratchet such as this has graced my tool box until it was borrowed...never to be seen again.
I recently bought the replacement and, while a little shocked over the price, I was truly happy to see that the quality was still there if not a tad better than before.
You cannot go wrong with this ratchet as a stand alone or in a set!

Haven't had any problems with this ratchet, I use it all the time at the wrecking yard to dismantle small fasteners inside doors, in the engine compartment and under the dash. Works fine and is one of my reliable tools.

I use this for home use and it is a very poor product. It is almost like the gears inside are/were stripped from the time i got it. Looking at replacing with snap-on as I'm tired of having the skin removed from my knuckles. it skips and free spins about every other turn.

could use more "teeth" to give it more travel but still the best in the tool box.

Though a bit pricey - fairly sturdy 1/4" drive

I have been purchasing Craftsman tools for 30 plus years because they are proudly made in the USA and carry a lifetime warranty. You can imagine my disapointment when I opened my newest ratchet and it no longer says Forged in the USA. In fact, it doesn't even say where it is made on the tool itself. The words Made in China are very small and on the back of the cardboard package. Sears must be embarrassed that they are outsourcing so they are not making it obvious where it is made. I can no longer say I am proud to use Craftsman tools that are Made in the USA.

This is the worst rachet I have ever owned. It never lasts more than a few months (with only occasional use) before it starts to slip. I would just as soon use a Taiwanese rachet as this one. It is definitely NOT dependable. Save your time and money. If this is your only choice, use a cresent wrench instead. It can't be any worse!

A while back I bought a new one made in the USA, this week the toggle switch part broke, so I returned it and was given one made in China. Back when I bought the ratchet the big selling point was the Made in USA part just as much as the guarantee, I could have gotten a similar guarantee from ********** and spent a lot less if I wanted to buy junk from China. A replacement with a inferior tool made off shore is not a full warranty, plain and simple.
