Overall

Can't go wrong with this tool

Craftsman delivers a great axe for chopping wood or any other light to medium duty job you can throw it's way. The Craftsman Lifetime Warranty doesn't hurt either!

ALL AMERICAN

JUST THE AXE FOR CAMP FIRE WOOD. THE HICKORY HANDLE ABSORBS THE SHOCK AS IT SHOULD AND THE HEAD HAS THE BEST AMOUNT OF TAPER FOR MY PURPOSE. I LIKE THE COMPLETE UNIT. TRY IT, YOU WILL AGREE.

This Craftsman quality axe provides outdoor enthusiasts and the generally well-prepared survival oriented folks a very capable and reliable tool for a very reasonable price.

The 1.25lb Craftsman Camp Axe has found a permanent home in the cab of my pickup where it can be easily accessed for any number of projects and ready at hand for those survival situations when I may need it most; a wreck for instance.

Some stronger attributes I accredit to this little workhorse are its evenly balanced weight distribution, and its sturdy solid construction. It is a pleasure to hold and grip for the handles contours simply feel correct while the wooden shaft artfully iincorporates the smooth, subtle, springy, dampening-yet-rigid and solid-striking dualistic properties unique to hardwood. Its why framing hammers have wood handles as well- to reduce user fatigue. You could chop kindling and save your arm where as a one-piece fixed head steel axe is more strenuous to use but also less likely to fail over time which could potentially create a major problem in a survival situation.

It comes down to preference and intended use, but for my money and taste this suits me quite well and I would enthusiastically recommend virtually any genuine Craftsman tool made in the USA to any of my friends according to their needs, and that includes this respectable and reverently crafted 1.25lb Camp Axe.
