A must have for your miter saw

This item was on-sale when I bought it at sears. I an glad I got it. It took me just over an hour to set up my 12 in miter saw on it so I could get to work. It is a bit heavy and could use a handle to make rolling it around easier. Once I finish using it, I fold it up and roll it under my workbench to store it. The rollers and material supports work nicely and extend easily to each side. The knobs to lock them in place are easy to turn and hold tight once adjusted.

I would recommend this to anyone needing a good and sturdy miter saw stand.

I returned mine...
I was very picky when picking out a miter saw stand, yet I didn't want to spend $200+ on a professional quality stand, so I was looking at ones around $100. Found this one on a craftsman sale for $85, normally $119 and took the bait. Pros: The included template board ensures that any saw you have will fit. This was about the only thing I liked about it though Cons: Overall cheap feel. Included screws did not match the manual and didn't work with the wheels. Wheels themselves as well as the main frame were scrawny and cheap feeling. Extension arms didn't slide smoothly. Didn't like the strange yellowish color of the metal. Just didn't look like it would hold up over time. After getting this one out of the box and not liking the week look of it not to mention the strangely discolored yellow metal parts, and then finally realizing they had screws that would not work with the install on some parts (the head were slotted, yet the fittings on the stand were not). I stopped mid install and opted to get a competitors stand I'd been eyeing for roughly the same amount. Night and day difference between the build quality and look & feel between the two and I chose to keep the competitors one. I've been a long time Craftsman fan but that's been slowly changing as Craftsman of today is not what it was 10+ years ago. Even at $85 I was not about to keep this one. Can't say I actually used it though as Sears told me if I had, I'd have to take a restocking fee hit to return it and I wasn't about to loose any more time & money over this piece Admittedly reviews vary and I was surprised at all the positive reviews on this one especially after seeing what else was out there. Take a good look at a display one before purchasing

Covers all the bases

Got this stand for $15 on Craigslist new in box! Completed assembly with no problems. It is long and heavy but just what I needed. I found the mounting platform to be some what outdated and converted it to accept quick clamp mounts from old stand. Perfect and very quick removal of saw. The wheels are really low quality for such a heavy piece. Went to surplus store and bought heavy duty wheel set. Now it is not only sturdy but more stable during transport. Sears should think about upgrading wheels and update saw mounting platform as it looks like a work-mate product and is lower quality than frame.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Value

For $116, not too bad; a bit unsteady when set up, but does the job. One major weakness: the wheel assemblies. These are cheap and flimsy, and after installation, if one tries to wheel the unit, the wheels resist (because of the awkward angle that they are on when attached to the leg) and the assembly slips up the leg that it is mounted to. This can be remedied by drilling a hole into the leg, on the opposite side from where the wheel is, for a large sheet metal screw. There is already a hole in the backside of the wheel assembly, so if you use that to mark on the leg, drill the hole in the leg, and then thread the screw through both holes, into the leg, it will hold the wheel assembly tight and there is no more slippage. I did not have the problem of screws/bolts not matching as another reviewer reported (although one cap nut was missing from the parts bag).

I would recommend this product to a friend.

not what I expect from craftsman

What makes it universal is the step where you drill holes into the fiber boards to mount your saw. I spent the first hour repairing one of the legs with a bad spring pin. Then the board guides (just folded metal) were not folded over enough to put the bolt in per the directions. It is also disappointing that the cheap wheels are not useable to move the stand around when it is folded up. Being unlikely I will want to move it while unfolded, I may move the wheels to another part of the stand. Buyers remorse now but I did get it on clearance but even 1/2 price does not seem appropriate.

Craftsman 10 Universal Miter Saw Stand.............isn't

When I purchased the Craftsman 10 Universal Miter Saw Stand I was under the impression that it would work with the 10" Compound Miter Saw (professional unit). I put it together as instructed by the attached paperwork. I worked for a few hours trying to get straight cuts. After walking away to get my head clear, I looked back to see the stand was bowed due to the weight of the saw. I took it off and reinstalled it thinking I might have done something wrong....nope...it still bowed, so it is universal except for the heavier saw... I returned it to find a
stand that can handle the increased weight of the big saw. For a lighter saw the stand would be a very good unit and if I were going to have a smaller saw I would purchase the stand from Sears.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I bought one for my son and it was so much better than mine that I bought one for myself as well. This stand is very stable and mobile. It has rollers and outriggers to support long work
