Craftsman 10 in. Dovetail Saw

While this is not one of those hundred dollar saws that the rich people can afford (no, it is a $10 saw, thank you very much) it does tend to cut like one! The teeth are closely spaced together making for a fast cut and they are sharp too!

To date I have only cut a couple of dovetails for practice and they are better than the dovetails I got from my Porter Cable dovetail jig!

Good saw, dulls quickly
I have done a fair amount furniture making. This is a great saw for the price, it just doesn't stay sharp relative to other brands for the hard-core. Said 'other brands' cost around $100 though; if you just want to mess around with a dovetail saw without definite plans for extensive furniture making, you should get this - it's like $10. Why not? I don't use this anymore, but I'm glad that I bought it. If someone were to just start making a furniture piece (as a novice) and they asked me for a recommendation, of course I'd say this $10 saw that does everything that's needed (for a short period of time). Do it.

Craftsman Dovetail Saw

Great saw for the Money! I used it to cut over 160 dovetails making jefferson bookcase boxes with hard maple.  I was going to buy a really expensive saw because I didn't know if a $10 saw would stay sharp enough for the entire job.  I am glad I didn't because this saw did the job well and is still just as sharp as it was when I bought it.  The only down fall is that the handle is a little awkward and uncomfortable.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice cuts

The Craftsman 10" Dovetail saw has 15-teeth per inch which allows fast, fine, smooth cuts. The handle on the saw is comfortable and easy to control during your cuts. The blade is tempered steel which helps increase the life of the blade. This saw may not be a high end saw for professional wood workers, but it is great for the average wood worker and/or the weekend warrior. the saw does create nice and straight cuts. I have not used it enough to test the length of how long the blade keeps its sharpness but for my current needs the, saw is just right. I am increasing my level of wood working as each day passes and for the price, I could not pass up this dove tail saw. I will update my review after I pop through a couple more projects, but currently the saw is doing what I purchased it for...

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good for the price

If you're just getting into woodworking or simply want a dependable crosscut saw, this is a great buy. It is quite durable and will make a good, fast cut in capable hands. However, with only 11 tpi (teeth per inch; I prefer 15-19 tpi) and filed for crosscut, I wouldn't recommend it for most dovetail or box joint projects which usually require a rip cut. I have found it much more useful as a carcasse saw.

I also found that I don't particularly like the straight handle as it become tiresome on the hand/wrist and uncomfortable for long cutting sessions. This is strictly a personal preference though. Some people prefer the straight handle.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Extremely Handy Saw for Fine Woodworking

Ok - I admit I don't use this saw for cutting dove-tails.  I typically use a router and dove-tail jig for that, but this is still an effective cutting tool.  I use it most oftem for cutting down the joints of drawer boxes to insure they are square and perpendicular to each other.

In any event, it's only $9.99 and I'm sure you'll find many uses for it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

For the Woodworker...

This dovetail saw is a great addition and a very affordable option for the casual woodworker looking to expand on their skills.  This saw pulls very cleanly and nicely with really great control in the cut.  This is a really good saw to start with as you expand your skills.

For me, again, I want to stress the ease and control of the cut with concern to woodworking.  This saw allowed me to really add cutting dovetail joints to my skillset which allowed me to start working on adding drawers to not only my personal workbench, but to work on adding drawers to the design of our built in cabinets that will be going in early next year.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice little Saw

My wife bought one of these, and its proved to be a handy well made saw.  Defiantly lived up to the Craftsman name so far, and don't see any reason it will not continue to perform great.
