I make my living as a "real" mechanic so I know tools. I had a corroded bolt on a tranny housing that would not budge. I had already broken two 6 point sockets...which had rounded the bolt off when they gave way. The situation got worse with each attempt to break the bolt free. I was about to grind the head off the bolt but decided to give this product a try. I had my doubts...but they were unfounded. It gripped the the 1/2 bolt head and then I applied tons of pressure with the breaker bar....followed by a huge POW and then all the extensions and the bolt remover fell to the ground. I figured I broke the breaker bar or an extension...or the bolt remover socket...just like the previous 10 or so attempts. But to my surprise it was the bolt that had loosened. What a relief. Grinding the top bolt of a transmission housing on a transmission installed in the vehicle would not have been fun. This product is well worth it and should be essential in any mechanics tool box.
I used this on a stripped lug nut on our ATV. I did have to use a hammer and tap the the back end of my extension with socket attached to get a good bite on the stripped lug. Do not hit the socket itself as damage can occur. It took well over 100 ft/lbs to get the lug nut off. I had to use a 3 foot cheater bar just to break it loose. The socket held GREAT. I have not used these on an impact yet.
I bought this set because it seems I'm always working on stripped out (rounded) or rusty bolts. These things grab on hard and will usually break the bolts loose without a problem. Save a ton of time and headaches for yourself at half the price of other major brands. I haven't needed to bring a worn one back yet but the Craftsman warranty has always been great.

Should have been made as deep sockets as well as 1/2 drive. The 3/8 drive just don't cut it. With a 3/8 wratchet you cant get anything loose and you end up breaking the wratchet. They force you to use a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter with a 1/2 drive wratchet then the adapter breaks. Use a Snapon or Matco 1/2 to 3/8 adapter and you will get the job done.
I had a rounded off bolt on an axle shaft that I had been fighting for about 4 hours. Actually saw a you tube video posted by a mechanic that swore by this bolt/nut remover. I went to Sears, purchased the set and removed the rounded off bolt in no time. I have owned this set less than a month and it had already paid for itself!

I needed to remove a rounded, rusted bolt from my Honda's exhaust system and it worked great. The instructions say to use a size that just catches the top of the bolt but I had to go a few sizes larger for it to work.
After a lot of trying took a couple of rusty bolts out and snapped off a couple. Hard to get correct size to fit, still rounded off corners of bolts. Brought back and got the" Grip Tite Super Sockets!" (that Sears carries)These work great!!
This tool was used to try and remove a hinge bolt on a automobile. The first one I purchased was obviously used and had metal shavings in the tool carrier right from the store shelf. I instantly returned it the following day a received a new unoped tool. The tool did not work in my case probably because of the access to swing a hammer on the adapter over the bolt head. I also have a little doubt on how long it will last since the metal showed early ding marks from medium hits with the hammer to secure it on the bolt head.

I got this set years ago and have only had 2 use it 3 times(before I got it maybe once a mnth this would have helped go figure ) took off a lug nut with a 1/2 long craftsman ratchet using an adapter came off with ez. Tool lug out of socket no damage 2 socket....the nut was done but that was 2 be expected. Live these sockets takes off those stubborn stripped nuts.
