I purchased this set when the local Sears store was having a sale. I've used them three times now and so far I have been pleased. You definately want to make your deep cuts gradually; no more than 1/8 at a time. I heve used them in poplar, red oak and MDF and the cuts have been clean and sharp.
This set will not disappoint you. Watching for a sale price will save you about $20 - $30.
I chose the set because of price, but in a week, a 3/4" bit was broken. I will choose another product.

Loved this set! I'm just getting started with my house trim and this gives me a good selection to start with. I would recommend this set to anyone who is just starting out!
I purchased this set as a gift for my father-in-law, thinking it would be a nice addition to his shop. We used it for the first time on January 20, 2014, and after one use, the router bit broke away from the shank and flew into the router table. Fortunately, the wood kept it from flying upward, but I would say these are a safety hazard and would not recommend. I used to assume that all Craftsman products were made in America, but these are stamped Made in China on the shaft, so I'd steer clear of Craftsman router bits from here on out.

For some, a 1/2' router bit set is out of the question because your router does not have the 1/2" collet for bigger router bits. No reason to worry with this bit set. From my personal use, it seems to be made of good steel and performs like it's larger 1/2" cousin. I was looking for one particular router bit inparticular and they did not have it in stock which was not impressive to me, but they did have this set on sale for an excellent price, which, from a quick calculation in my head (which may or may not be accurate, some of us are getting old and can't do in our minds what we once could) saved me about 27% on that one bit, and considerably more on some of the other bits in the set. I highly recommend buying this set as it has the quality for the experienced router user, and the variety of bits that can set up a novice well for their first router experiences. Good deal in my not-so-humble opinion.

I actually have the 12 bit set however, while using the dovetail bit it broke half way through a 16" piece of oak. So basically a "New" bit routed 8" of wood before breaking. I'm a bit old fashioned and believe a tool should do what it is intended for and not only finish the job but last for awhile. Craftsman tools have pretty much hit bottom in my book, I will not purchase Sears tools in the future.
The bits lived up to my expectations but the box fell apart when I tried to remove the bits. The bits were hard to remove from the holders. Pushing them in and out several times didn't improve the difficulty in pulling them out. I would still recommend.
