Saw cuts great so far and it has all the features you'd find on a much higher priced tool. Went from out of the box to cutting lumber in about 30 minutes. Only minor assembly and zero/square adjustments required. Tech manual seemed to have an error; it inverted the pic/description of the 33.9/45 degree bevel adjustment screws in the saw alignment instructions, it's easy enough to figure out though. Laser is spot on and works great. Saw is compact enough to lug from site to site or stick in a home workshop. Overall great value.
can't beat this saw for the price!! everyone who mad about the plastic stops are foolish. its a sliding compound miter saw! it cuts amazing it took 20 minutes to square. it beats my old saws. the saw should be 350-400 dollar saw easy. I got it during the black Friday week.
I got this saw in August and put right to work. I replaced all my 1x4 fir decking boards on my 13'x14' upper deck. The boards were on the diagnol and not at an exact 45 degree. This saw with laser made it easy. I was able to see the laser even in direct sun light. the extensions on the side of the table gave a study platform to cut. I also used the saw to cut 4x6 landscape timbers as well. Buy this saw if you are a home improvement guy like me.
This is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. In comparison to other popular power tool companies, this mitre saw has the best bang for your buck by far. Great quality, lots of power, and all the bells and whistles. Would recommend for any DIYer.

Got on sale for $189.99. Replaced a cast iron non-sliding 10" Craftsman compound saw (23460) I've had since 1994. Still works great, but wanted to be able to cut wider material so I started looking at sliders and ended up getting this saw. Extension tables are kind of cheesy (my old saw did not even have them, so they are definitely better than nothing) and the plastic positive stop lever concerns me a bit. Otherwise everything else about the saw is good enough for my light duty non-professional needs around my house. Slider moves precisely and setting up saw to cut square took around 15 minutes ... it was "pretty close" out of the box. I agree with everyone else that the dust bag does not do much "collecting". I'd guess it collects about "half" the saw dust that the old saw did. Removed some minor flashing from the port as others recommended but also went one step further. I added a 1.5" black PVC street elbow that I lined the FM end with 1/4x3/4" adhesive backed foam tape so it fits over the exhaust port snuggly. Then took a black PVC 1.5" FM to 1.5" male NPT adapter and turned the threaded end down on a lathe so the bag would slip over it. With elbow pointed sideways bag is now always "horizontal" rather than vertical and seems to be collecting more saw dust. I've yet to try it with a vac. Also bought a Craftsman 16490 Deluxe Miter Saw Stand for this saw and it fits it very well. It also fit on the 2004 vintage Ridgid MSUV that my old saw was on but fits this new Craftsman stand better.
I have the utmost respect for the Craftsman name, but my experience with this saw was not good. The blade was so far off that it tore into the red plastic on the base, not alot, but it should not have done this. The laser was not nearly inline with the blade and the fence was so far off line it was ridiculous. The preset miter notches are too wide and offer too much wiggle room too. Fortunately Sears took it back without question.
The saw works very well smooth slide cuts 2 by 12 very easy. The only problems that I came to notice was that the dust bag was pointing straight down back into blade which made it usless
