The Craftsman 11 pc SAE 6 pt Socket Set is a good value

I bought these to go in a metric Craftsman service set I bought when I was a kid.  The set was bought back in the 1970's and it came with a 17" metal tool box.  These dropped right in the metal tote tray next to the original metric sockets.  The 6 point sockets are supposed to be stronger than 12 point sockets but they are limited to hex head fasteners.  You have to twist them more to line them up on the fastener head also.  They are a good value especially when they are on sale.

Nice socket rail.....wish that is what the sockets came with!
I purchased this set online mainly because i like the socket rail that it shows in the picture and is advertised as coming with. Sadly upon pick up, I received a plastic rack that is basically useless once I pry the Chinese made sockets out of it. Very dissatisfied with the direction Craftsman and Sears are going. Both names used to be a sign of quality. Now they're just a sign of an overpriced product. I would return them, but I purchased with points. Good thing I used my points up, as this may be my last purchase from Sears.

      Warranty makes them Acceptable.

I have had Craftsman tools since I was 21. The quality has always been great, and with the outstanding warranty, I've always tried to purchase Craftsman tools. These sockets seem to be holding up fine so far, but I am disappointed that they are now made in China instead of the USA. The embossed lettering isn't as clean as the ones I've purchased that were "Made in USA." It also seems the socket thickness has increased, making the overall socket diameter larger when trying to fit into tight places. I've also noticed that there isn't a price difference between the "Made in China" products and the "Made in USA" one, which makes me wish they would keep making the USA ones or give us a discount price on the China ones. At least I know that if these "China" sockets break, I can get a new one, maybe even one of the "Made in USA" sockets that they sell individually.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      3/8 in. socket set

I like the holder that this set comes in. Makes it easy to carry and you don't have to buy any extra socket holders. The name Craftsman speaks for itself, I always buy craftsman tools and would recommend them to anybody. The 6 pt. makes it very easy to do work on my truck for I wish that was a craftsman....LOL

Great tools. Awful packaging!!! Why do you do this to us?!

This is about the worst packaging I've ever come across in my life.

      Great Socket Set

I picked up this socket set for a great bargain... I already had two 3/8 drive 6 point sets in these sizes but I just couldn't pass up the deal ;), you can never have too many sockets... The plastic storage tray that the set comes in is pretty convenient and keeps the set nicely organized, you can hang it on the peg board or just toss it in your tool box... I would recommend this set to anyone that needs a good 3/8 drive set or just wants to expand there collection... And this set is still Made in the USA with true Craftsman quality and the Forever Warranty...

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A must have for any tool box

Can't imagine my tool box without these. As basic, yet as necessary, as a pair of pliers or a screwdriver. Can't do without them. I have even gone on and bought the larger sizes not included in this set.

Love the 6 point sockets, they get called upon more than my 12 point sockets, for sure.

      Covered by a lifetime warranty.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Something new to consider...

Most users may not have noticed a change in Craftsman sockets.  Look at the "point" of the borached area (this will be easier to see on larger sockets).  Notice that the point is now "rounded" to give clearance to the fastener.  This is compliance with Aerospace Spec 954 (AS954).  Since 1965 the only place you could get AS954 sockets was off "the truck."  Now it is incorporated into Craftsman sockets.  You never need fear rounding-off the corners of a nut again.  This is a major improvement.
