Great router, great price

I bought this needing a basic router. I was looking for one that was powerful, but at a low price. I was surprised how much less this one was compared to other brands when considering the HP it had on it. With that being said it has been extremely effective and I have not had any issues with it. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a router, especially someone who is budget conscious.

JUNK
I originally ordered two of these. One straight out of the box would not work period. Returned it at local Sears store. It lasted almost 1 hour of work time and it no longer works. The other one made it maybe 4 hours of work time. Its the soft start feature I believe, only thing smart about it is, it saves on electricity because it won't allow router to reach full rpms. I wouild of rated it lower but there was not an option.

Works quite well on my router table

I've had this router mounted on my MLCS router table for several years now and have had no issues. The soft start and variable speed work as advertised. I've used a variety of bits from basic round over's to lock miter's in MDF & woods and this router is up to the task. When done routing, fire up the compressor and blow the dust out of your router and adjustments for continued proper performance.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A Dissapointment for my Application

I bought this router as a dedicated machine for use with my Rockler dovetail jig. It's been rather difficult to adjust and it take some manipulation to use a busing guide and dovetail bit. Cutting action is fine, I just wish it were more user-friendly in the adjustment department.

Nice

Got this router and the 37596 router table. I did not think there would be much to it because of the price. But it turned out to be a nice router. Nothing fancy. But, For the price you can't beat it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Could have been good, sadly was not

Well I wish I'd seen these reviews prior to buying. Bought this earlier, took it home and compared it to my old 17543 router. RPM's were slower with speed setting on 6 compared to my old Craftsman set on 4. It also sounded like it had dry bearings when running. I didn't think this was right so I returned it and asked to test the second one before buying. Was told I cannot, and the guy acted like he didn't even believe me, so I said forget it. Then the sales guy grabs the display and tested it. It worked, was much faster, but also made a noise. He then opens the box of a new one after saying I can't. This one had the collet wedged in the shaft and would not come out even with the nut removed. It needed pliers but I wasn't risking a damaged collet to cause a bit to fly out later. They only had two so I just returned mine and left. These reviews seem to suggest this model may have a bad motor. The hassle at the store makes taking a chance on further Craftsman tools not very appealing. Too bad. The router design looked good. Similar to a Bosch, which I'll be buying now.

First router

This is my first router. I haven't used it feet much but it seems to have more than enough power. The storage bag is ok for a bag but a hard sided case would be much better

Great!

This is the perfect for the man that has everything. My husband likes to play with wood and make new things, and this tool allows him to experiment. He is making a lot of new items this winter.

Under-rated Router!

I know there are benefits to buying a $300 router, but it's hard to remember what they are after using this one. It's simple, powerful, and easily adapts to what I need it to do. I like the soft-start and the adjustments on this one. It really can't be beat for the price and function.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent Product

I am a home project user, not a professional carpenter/cabinet maker. This router fits my needs perfectly. I highly recommend.

Good but flawed router

Love the soft start & led lights but you still can't see what you're doing because of the huge collet. You can use either a 1/2" or 1/4" bit with this router but either way the collet is big. I brought this back to Sears in favor of the plunge model of the same router. Don't need plunge but should be able to see the work through the larger opening and still have plunge if I want it. Hard to beat these routers for value for the money. Ryobi makes a router that might compete with this but it doesn't look as well made.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Limited bit size

I needed to make a head moulding for top of windows and doors.for a colonial look. My old Bosch router was lost with flooding from Sandy. The 2 HP Craftsman was a good economical choice for the work. The 1/4" shank bit is 1-1/2" in dia. It will not fit thru hole in base. 1/2" round over will not fit either. I am going to make a custom base in order to finish job. Why is hole so small?
