i purchased this Craftsman 12 pc.
i purchased this Craftsman 12 pc. Router Bushing & Centering Cone Set at the suggestion of a fellow Craftsman community member and friend. I have started doing wood working as a hobby after a small stroke and really getting into it. I am self taught for the most part and have relied heavily on tips, advice, and suggestions from other wood workers. My son had purchased a Craftsman router for Christmas last year and I finally got into using it and learning new things to do with it and I wanted to start making me some new templates for some projects that I was working on. I went to my local SEars store and purchsed the router bushing set that I was recommended and took my new set home to my shop. I got out the size that I needed to make some dovetail cuts for some keys on the corner of a bit cabinet that I was making. I used my template that I made in the shop & this router bushing was perfect. When I finished, it looked pretty close to the ones in the book. Even being a green wood worker ( maybe I should say hobbiest, until I get more experience ), I was able to make some nice looking dove tails and keys for the dove tails by using my template and my bushing set. If a green wood worker can make nice projects like this, by using these router bushings, thenn anyone should be able to use this set and make some awsome looking stuff using their routers. I would recommend this set of bushings for router use.

I purchased this not really knowing its use but I did finally figure out its uses. I like hoew it helped with the centering of my router bites .I also used it with letter routing bites helped in smoother letter routing. The instrution never really explained its uses.

Interesting set. I normaly don't write reviews. but I have started because I do rely on tem when I am shopping. I agree with the review that these could have used a bit more thought. I have not had a problem using a 1/2 template but what I will say is that this set could have been reduced to 3 bushings plus the ring locks. My first gripe is that most bits that are in a set you qont be able to use with the larger bushings. I used a 1" bit and was only able to route about 3mm deep. I had to go out and get a 2.5" bit inorder to get a 1/8" offset. This being said I wont be able to use that bit starting a router because my craftsaman plunge base doesn't go that high. The way I figured it out there is not much difference between different bits. I was trying to figure out how to get a 1/4" offset so I could use a rabiting bit afterwards, I am making cavities with covers. It cant be done I will have to just cut my plates 1/4" greater and sand it smooth to fit. All in all they work well

Finish or plating looks good. Guide bushin gs do not fit mounting holes in an older model Craftsman router. Largest guide bushing is not centered onrouter bit, which does not make it suitable for fine detail work.

Craftsman 12 pc. Router Bushing & amp; Centering Cone Set is a good set for my Craftsman router. I got the set to finish working on my router bit case, that I am making & purchased this set after talking with a few community members on the Craftsman club & reading a few articles. The only problem I had was these bushing would not fit my Craftsman router that I got as a Christmas gift. You have to have the plastic base plate kit to be able to use the bushing set. The set was easy to use & worked well with my 1/2" dove tail bit to make my corner cuts that I was needing to make. It worked just like the instructions on the plans I had said it would. I am a novice userwith my router & learning as I go & this bushing set has been a real aid. I would have no problem recomending this set to a friend or family member. Pretty descent price also. I can see where the polished metal guide bushings would be superior to plastic ones.

This is the only set of bushings I've ever used, and they worked fine. I have two annoyances, that could have been easily determined if the product was tested better. The first is that the larger bushings have a 9/16" deep collar, so you can't use 1/2" template material, you need to use 3/4"; reducing the possible depth of cut. The second is that the bushing locking ring is too high for the dust collection accessory to screw in on the on the Craftsman Professional router with a plunge base.

I may be easily impressed having never before owned or used router bushings, but I like this set. I bought it because it included a centering cone, which is really useful, and it means one less purchase to make. All parts have a solid feel, the threads are clean, well manufactured. The case is a nice feature. I have read that brass bushings, unlike steel, are said to not loosen up during use, but I haven't had any problems with these.
