WOW!!! I am not a big fan of “cordless” tools because the batteries constantly need recharging in the middle of a job. Knowing this about me, my wife bought an extra battery to keep in the charger while the other one was in use. I spent the afternoon in my shop, first getting used to the Craftsman 12 Volt Nextec Lithium-Ion Hammerhead and then using it on several little projects requiring small nails. Before I realized it, the afternoon was gone and I was still using the first battery without a noticeable decrease in the power of the Hammerhead. I was amazed and may be a convert to more cordless tools if it continues to work this well in my cordless tools; all two of them. :-)
Of my three Nextec 12v lithium-ion battery packs, two failed within 4 months after only very light use. The third battery pack has worked fine for over a year. Inside the battery packs are three 4 volt batteries and all three must charge to deliver the 12 volts required to run my drill. In my two battery packs that failed, all three of the 4 volt batteries were not charging properly. In one case, only one battery was charging giving me 4 volts output and in the other, two of them were charging for 8 volts when using the Nextec charger that was supplied with my drill. When I charged the Nextec battery packs with a variable voltage electronic power supply set to a maximum voltage of 12.6 volts, a maximum current of 500 ma, and a maximum charge duration of 2 hours, the "failed" battery packs charged to the full 12 volts and would again run my drill. Since my Nextec charger works fine with my 3rd Nextec battery pack, I have concluded that the charger that came with my drill is O.K,, but that there are defects in the safe charging circuitry that is built into my two defective battery packs. I do not recommend that others try my technic for charging their Nextec batteries because lithium ion batteries can explode if you do not know how to properly charge them. I am an electrical engineer with expertise in this field. I do recommend that Craftsman investigate and fix the defect in their Nextec batteries, especially in view of so many complaints about them.

I bought these batteries to use with my craftsman heated jacket. I feel I didn't reach full potential of battery until 2-3 full power to dead recharge. However these batteries lasted 5.5 hours on blue mode on my coat and run around 2.5 hours on red mode. There very small and compact but do the job very well. I have seen the one with the flashlight on it I believe that should be standard on there batteries. All in all I give them a 5 as they have lasted longer than my 19.2 NiCad ever will/

I always like to have a spare around for long jobs. although the charger is quick, I wouldn't try telling that to the boss. and the price I payed for it for it is good.

I charged the battery and installed it on my Nextec LED light. I turned on the light for almost two hours without observing any decrease in light intensity. I also use the same battery in my Nextec drill and cutting tool.

I got it when it was on sale. Very good price for the quality it has. I put it in a Nextec work light and it works for hours. Also it can be used with the Nextec compact driver. It lasts as good as other expansive tools I have. Nextec has good tool for bargain price.
