Product Description

This 12 Amp Router Delivers Powerful Performance

Equipped with a 2.0 horsepower motor, smooth ball bearing rotation and a variable speed control that revs from 10,000 to 25,000 RPMs lightning fast, this digital router delivers the torque you need to rip through plastics, veneer, hardwoods and softwoods. Designed to stay in control, it’s equipped with Soft Start technology, that gradually brings the bit up to speed, cutting down on take off, while the micro height adjustment allows you to control cutting position in 1/64 inch increments. A solid machine that combines the maneuverability of aluminum with the strength of steel and accuracy of digital controls, add this 12 amp router to your tool kit, and get the job done right with Craftsman.

  • Digital router includes: Plunge Base, 1/4 & 1/2 collet, sub base, collet wrench, depth adjustment wrench, edge guide, vac adapter, screws and soft case
  • 6 variable speed control from 10,000-25,000 revolutions per minute so you have the right speed for your material
  • Digital read out helps control material removal, simply match the speed to the bit
  • Heavy duty gear box delivers efficient power transfer
  • Micro-height adjustments in 1/64-inch increments by simply turning the height adjustment knob
  • Rapid height adjustment of 1/2-inch or more by simply push the button to by-pass the rack and pinion
  • 4-position depth stop turret can be adjusted from ¼ to ½ in.
  • Electronic Feedback Control Ensures proper motor RPM for the bit size and the material being routed
  • Aluminum Chassis Lightweight, yet provides strength, steel machined motor sleeve houses the mandrel and gearbox
  • Provides a clear sight-line to the router bit and work surface from both the front or rear of the router. Chip deflector keeps the debris contained and away from the operator
  • Can be attached to a 1 1/4-inch vacuum adaptor
  • Ergonomically designed handles reduce vibration and user fatigue while providing a superior grip and feel at virtually any position
  • Provides a level platform to properly secure and level the appropriate router sub-base. Clear router sub-bases are designed to help illuminate the work area as well as for proper debris extraction. Router sub-base will also accept threaded router bushings
  • Spring loaded spindle lock is located in the front of the router for easy removal of the router bit or router collet with the use of one wrench
  • Buckle latch allows for fast and easy motor pack removal for bit and base changes
  • Backed by a 1 Year / 90 Day Warranty

Great Router for the price
I needed a plunge router and this fit the bill. I can now leave my fixed base router on the table. Easy to adjust, soft start is great and variable speed gives great versatility.

Took it back, too much slop in plunge base
It sat for about a month until last weekend. Yesterday I mounted it to a table and a new hardboard plate. I noticed that the hole created by my flush trim bit was oblong?strange. I thought it was strange when I was raising the unit using the through table adjustment and it would hop every 1/4 inch or so. So, i went underneath and measured both sides at the handles to the table. There was that 1/4 inch! The dang thing was tipped to one side under the table. I took the router out of the table and put it right side up on the the table top. I grabbed the handles and tried to wobble the unit and sure enough there was an audible click in the guides. I immediately took it back. I only bought it a month ago AND I bought the protection. Before I did a straight swap I checked out the display units and 4/5 of the display units had observable slop in the bases. As this router was going to be almost exclusively undermounted I said screw it and grabbed a fixed base unit.

Powerful

I have a 1/4" Ryobi router and table and needed a 1/2" router, I have fallen out of favor with Ryobi tools and have gone back to Craftsman.  This router is excellent and powerful cuts through hardwood with a sharp bit.  LED lighting is nice as well as the digital programming.  Easy to use.

Very nice router, I wish I could find a router table for it

The router works really well. The gradual start speed is great. This router replaces an older router I had and all the new features are a welcome addition! I'm having a difficult time finding a router table that fits it though. I bought craftsman table 28140 but it doesn't fit, and doesn't list the router as compatible. Anyone know which table is compatible?

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Only 2hp not 2.25hp as advertised.

I just got my router and was dimayed to see it is only 2hp not 2.25hp as advertised. That .25hp makes a big difference in what I do with the router. I'm going to give it a go anyhow because the job won't wait.
