Craftsman  120V Portable Inflator

I took this compressor and made the end of it fit an air chuck with these parts. The first part is a replacement valve stem for an air tank that is from Campbell Hausfeld--part number MP3229-Tank Valve it is an 1/8" male NPT thread for $1.66. It works great. After you find that part, all you need to find is a 1/8" female thread/1/4" male thread bushing(for as little as $1.49) that will take you up to most standard size air chucks(approx. $5.00) or quick connects(which would cost more). Cost around $8.00.

Like many of the other reviews I was worried about the end of this inflator being a pain to get on & off the valve stem. I solved this problem for around $8.00. I went to the local hardware store and found a valve stem replacement for a portable air tank. Screwed the valve stem into the existing end on the hose, used one bushing to get the opposite end of the valve stem the right size and put an air chuck on. It took 3 extra parts: Valve stem replacement for air tank, bushing to make it the right size thread for air chuck, and an air chuck. I could have made it a quick tach, but decide not to as it is tankless so your options are pretty limited, but I wanted something small and light for our camper to blow up airbags on motorhome and bike tires. As of right now it goes up to about 120 psi and holds for about 15 minutes before slipping slowly down once you shut if off. I have had this compressor for a little over a year and it died. The pivot point where the piston connecting rod connects to the crank shaft broke apart. If you plan to inflate a tire with very little air in it, don't get this model. The output volume is low. If you plan to top off 4 tires by 10psi or more, don't get this model. The compressor heats up and starts to strain. I used this compressor only once a month to maintain 4 tires and it couldn't even last 1.3 years.

Does the job very well. The compressor is very good to have on the road.

Don't be scared off by comments regarding the connector needing to be screwed onto tire valves. It allows for a leak free connection and very little air escapes when unscrewing the connector from the valve. I had a portable unit with a locking connector that failed over time and kept popping off the tires. That will never be a problem with this unit. I paid $45 for it. No complaints thus far.

Mechanically a great design. Works well except for one little thing. The valve stem connector is screw on. If it came with a standard adapter it would get 5 stars from me.

Great product with lots of power and best of all it's 120v. The only problem was K-Marts customer service which I would rate incompetent. I ordered one inflator as a gift for my brother in Florida but they shipped two and billed for two. This was suppose to be a surprise gift. They also messed up the billing name and the price billed.

Received this as a gift. The compressor itself seems to work fine, but as others have mentioned, the screw on connection for your standard car tire valve is not acceptable, What year is this - 1955? That type of valve head connector is antiquated to say the least. I will keep this and use it as I was able to make an adapter from an old Shrader valve and reuse the Presta/Shrader flip top adapter/hose assembly from a previous unit that I had sitting out in the garage that the compressor seals had failed on - guess it pays to be a packrat sometimes ;-). Not a big fan of the orange curly hose either as it just takes up more space to store, but I can see where others may find this useful. I do like the 120v design as opposed to needing to plug it into a 12v cigarette lighter jack as most of the time I am using it in the garage anyway for the cars/bikes and have a manual pump for emergency road use.

The inflator portion of this item works fine. It moves plenty of air to quickly inflate a car tire, but the screw-on design of the connector makes it awkward to use. If I cannot find a cheap solution for the connector I will be returning this item.

Bought this item a few months ago and it has been invaluable. I have used it to inflate things such as bike, lawn tractor and car tires. It has given me peace of mind as it is so portable and easy to use. I would recomend this to anyone who wants a small to medium inflator.
