Miter Saw
I looked everywhere for a sliding miter saw, and found this one on sale. This saw is approx. 40% cheaper than other comparable items. I did have to set up the adjustments on saw for square and angles. After adjustments, the saw cuts extremely well. The slide is very smooth and the saw reacts well.

Laser Trac should not even be included, USELESS.

The saw is great would highly recommend and the features are very good.  Compared to the higher end comps, this is a steal, especially if you can catch it on the many sales Sears has for around $199.99.  The LaserTrac is a joke and just there as an add on for show and just to say it has one, totally and completely 'USELESS', does not show up unless your in a very low light or dark room with no lights, then you adjust the wood then you turn lights back on for cut.  Just forget this sliding miter saw has a laser and you'll be more comfortable making the purchase or for that, owning one.  Sears should really recall this laser back and give us all a replacement to add on that reall works, what were they thinking?  Bottom line, don't buy this saw at regular price of $299.99, it's really not worth it, wait it out for a sale price.

Overall
not up to professional standards

I was somewhat concerned about the miter angle assembly when looking at the floor model. It wasn't a smooth locking action, and when the set screw was tightened, the angle changed slightly. Salesman said they didn't have returns on it, and this floor model may have had a problem. I gambled and took one home. After setup I had 2nd thoughts, looked again at other name brands which were all constructed better, and decided to return it. It is the lowest price saw of this size, and if you are not doing fine work it may be satisfactory.

Poor workmanship

I bought this saw to cut crown. 2 weeks into the weekend project, the motor quit. Sears returned it easily and replaced with another unit. Started cutting baseboards, could not understand why things weren't lining up. After all kinds of tests, I figured out that the left side of the fence was bent, but the whole fence was square, so it was only affecting some of my cuts. Returned second unit to sears and will find another saw for future work. 2 tries was enough to convince me it was not just bad luck, but was mfg issue.

Overall good

This is overall a well made saw. It makes smooth cuts, is easy to operate, and for the price is a great buy. My biggest complaint is the locking handle for the rotation base. The piece is all plastic, and easily broken. My piece actually broke on the first time using it. Fortunately, I purchased a protection agreement and am able to replace it, but you have to return the entire saw and get a completely new saw. Now I know not to tighten the handle very much at all!

Excellent product for the price

I am a weekend warrior/DIY'er and this is the perfect blend between performance, features, functions, and price for my projects. The Craftsman Club price was amazing, too! Thank you Craftsman for another great product.

POORLY BUILT

I would not suggest this saw for anyone, especially a trim carpenter!

The saw doesn't hold a firm angle, this is most apparent when cutting wider boards, and the red plastic handle on the front of the saw used for setting the angle, rubs on the metal frame of the saw and breakes after just several uses, rendering the saw practically useless.

Could not beieve it

I looked at one today at the store. I wanted to replace a very old Black and Decker 10 inch Not compound or sliding miter saw. I had seen the item in the newspaper and researched it on the websight and was ready to purchase one. It had so much slop (left and right) I would be afraid to use it for a precise angle cut.My old miter saw that is starting to wear out was tighter than this one When I asked the store attendant that was helping me about it, all he could say was "We sell alot of them". It was the only 12 inch miter saw they had in stock. This really disapointed me. I have always thought I could trust crafstman tools. I have lost all respect for Craftsman now. I cannot explain how loose it was. This saw was a piece of junk. I only gave it a one star rating because I could not remove the one star.

Overall
sawdust doesn't go into bag

The saw works well and I have only one complaint. This saw replaces a saw I have used for years that has not had a bag to catch the sawdust. I have been using it for a while now and the only dust associated with the bag is on the outside. With each cut all of the dust flies everywhere except into the bag. I even checked to make sure there was not a packing blockage. I would have hoped for at least part of the dust to be caught.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
