better than expected
I didn't expect to be able to trim and saw so easy with this tool, however; it made cleaning, pruning, and trimming a snap. The trees look so much better after a winter of non-maintenance. I like this tool, it really helps with pruning and trimming.

Junk
I bought this tree pruner just over a year ago. There is one pole within another pole which you can extend to adjust the height of pruner. There was a black ring around where the two poles connected which could be tighten to secure the two poles together so they would not move as you sawed/pruned the branches. After using this pruner one time this black ring broke off so now I can not secure the two poles. I put the pruner away for the year and forgot about it until I used it on a neighbors tree earlier this year and remembered it was broken. I can not get a replacement "black ring" anywhere. Craftsman does not sell them separately and of course its too much work for them to obtain a new one from the manufacturer. I will not be buying another tree pruner from Craftsman.

Craftsman 14 ft. pruners

Made a poor cut on branch that wasn't clean but ragged. The saw was too curved to cut through the branch. Saw was too flexible + thin + looked as if it would break.

Not bad for the price.

I've used this pruner a few times and haven't had any problems. It has a long reach, the telescoping pole feature seems fine so far, and the saw blade is sharp and works as well or better than the one on my old pruner. Since the pole is reinforced plastic instead of metal, it is not quite as rigid as I might want, particularly when extended all the way, but it is lighter than a metal pole would be, and works fine once you get it into position for the cut you want to make. The lopper works better than my old one, but still can get stuck, especially if the saw blade is attached in the straight position, since that makes the corner of the blade intrude into the lopper. But the saw cuts better in the other position anyway.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Back to the drawing board

Absolute piece of junk! Need to carry 2 pipe wrenchs along if you want to lock the poles so they don't move as you cut a branch. The saw blade itself is like rubber making it impossible to cut through hard wood branches. This is going back to Sears for replacement with something that works as claimed. Do not buy this model!!!!

JUNK BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND

Bought one years ago. It was great. I would rate the old one a 5 star. I cut everything with it.It finally broke and they replaced it with this junk. It is not sturdy. The saw blade is so cheap and flimsy I could not cut anything with it.

seems same as corona for half the price

checked this out and purchased after noting it is virtually identical to the Corona pruner which is typically $60 or more. It is a serviceable homeowner saw, not a commercial quality tool. But for the price it is a relative bargain. I would highly recommend it for anyone who will occasionally have the need to prune small to medium branches of 1 to 3 inches.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
