Reach the Bottom of the Engine from Above...

I spend a great deal of my spare time in the garage. Together with my son, Nathan (age 27) we buy and restore 1980 era Porsches. Nathan is the real mechanic in the family. I pretty much offer moral support and fetch tools.

Most people would tell you that these import cars are a nightmare to work on. We haven't found that to be the case. The mechanical design of these high-performance vehicles is pretty straight-forward. That is a hallmark of the German craftsman and engineers that have developed them. It is true, however that these engineers are extremely efficient with their use of space under the hood. Large engine, small chassis and very light-weight create an environment that is sometime complicated to work in.

We have learned that the best way to deal with this challenge is to own a complete collection socket accessories. Through the use of various extension bars, adapters and universal joints we can replicate the wrench configuration that was originally used to assemble the vehicle. Craftsman calls these tools accessories! I don't think that's right! The term accessary, to me, implies that it is a "nice extra" but not really necessary.

Take it from me, if you are going to perform much mechanical work on a 1983 Porsche 944, a complete set of socket accessories is NOT optional.

      Meh.
Finish on the extension was fine, but now they're making these in China. I'd pay twice the price if they were still making them in the USA. This is the end of my Craftsman purchases, S-K, Snap-On, and MAC here I come.

      HANDY!

This extension is a very good addition to your socket set. It sure makes reaching those hard to reach places a lot easier. Plus it is a Craftsman tool which means always reliable!!

Middle of the road quality but gets the job done

This is not made in the USA but I needed the size and picked it up on sale. Two things -- the finish is chromed but it lacks that gleaming shine of the Craftsman's of old. There is no glaring chips or scratches but the overall finish is a bit sloppy compared to my 35 other Craftsman extensions that were not imported. Also the socket end goes on and off but is not smooth as butter like my others. For the price this is OK but I can't recommend it since it looks and feels like a low end tool.

      Much needed

This is a great addition to any mechanics tool box. There are many times a long extension bar is needed. This was the last one on the shelf that was made in USA. If you find on made in this country get it. Wonderful quality!

Longest 1/4" extension by Craftsman - U.S. Made!

I live in Canada, near the Detroit/Windsor border crossing and I love going to Sears for their U.S. made Craftsman tools (the Canadian Craftsman line is mostly overseas product). The no-hassle lifetime warranty has worked great for me!

I've been slowly building my tool collection starting from vintage hand-me-downs, to new pieces from Sears/Craftsman USA.

This is the longest 1/4" extension that Craftsman sells, chrome finish and made in the U.S. The price is excellent and I've never had an issue with it. Highly recommended.
