I had the smaller one but it wasn't big enough so upgraded. Aluminum would have been lighter, but for the few times I use it, the price was not worth it for me. Works as advertised.

Excellent Pipe wrench, we use these pipe wrenches everyday on the ranch and these are the BEST. Never had any of them break or become loose with time. I will only buy American and that is why these are simply the best for any job. They grip the pipe like they should and do not slip like the cheap chinese imports. Spend the few extra dollars, it is worth every penny. Always willing to pay more to get better quality. Still American made as of 5/1/2013!

My husband was thrilled with the new pipe wrench I purchased for him. And I was thrilled that it is made in America!

My husband had a tough, challenging repair to make on his van. He twisted tool after tool! When a "knock-off" brand pipe wrench actually split from his strength, I decided I'd better go in the store with him! I lead him straight to the Craftsman, because as a Contractor I know how trusted the brand is. Sure enough, the Craftsman 14" rests comfortably in our tool box, waiting for the next challenge!

I've only had to use this wrench a few times, and oddly enough not for pipes but for adjusting a rusty tie rod on an old Jeep. It did the job well and you can really never have enough tools. The finish is good, plenty durable, and it's fairly smooth to adjust. I think the price is a tad high, but on sale it's a good value.

Not sure why no-one has reviewed this wrench yet... Out of the 2 sizes available I find this one to be the best. Not too small (like the 10") and not too large and unwieldy (like the 18"). It's quite well made and, if properly maintained, looks like it could last years. One thing you should be aware of, however trivial, is that while pictured as a gray color, I've only seen these available in the standard pipe-wrench red color. Again, that is quite trivial considering how good of a pipe wrench this is. If you're looking for an affordable pipe wrench that's going to last a good while and not fall apart, get this.
