I purchased the drill driver over a decade ago along with a Makita. The Makita is long since gone and I am now needing to replace the Craftsman batteries. I use the tool several times a week and haven't had an issue until just recently as the batteries finally wore out. Compared to buying batteries for my 14.4 and 18 volt Dewalts these batteries are a steal. Hopefully the new batteries will perform like the old and the tool will wear out before this set of batteries does.

I am glad i read these reviews before i purchased replacement batteries. I like the drill and flashlight combo that i have had about 3 years but the batteries wont even charge anymore. I read the fine print on the products. "MADE IN CHINA" I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I have owned this battery for my drill for about 3 years now, and I have never had any issues with it so I bought another to always have a back up

I run a small handyman business and I've used Craftsman products for at least 10 years. I'm not sure what Sears did to change their power tools but I can tell you this I'm moving on to a new brand. I can't afford to be on a job and have tools quit. Thank goodness I have back up equipment, which will be replaced. Sears Craftsman tools are not for everyday work. If your going to use a tool more than once a week don't buy Sears.

I received this 14.4 volt Drill and Flashlight set from my wife Christmas of 2009. Seldom used the drill, but when I did the battery (both of them) would die in about an hour. When used as a Flashlight it would last about 30 minutes of continuous operation. Now I notice that Sears does not even sell any 14,4 volt Drills or sets like mine. They must have all gone bad and were taken back. I wish I could take mine back. I should have asked for a DeWalt set. Even though it would have cost more, it would have lasted for years. Now I have 2 bad Batteries and a useless Drill AND Flashlight set!!!

I have the 18V version of this battery (2 of them) and with minimal useage and not that old, nither one will hold a charge, and when they did, it didnt last long. I had a Makita 12V drill that i bought 17 years ago, and it makes this thing look like a complete piece of ****. That makita worked falwlessy and with long life. i dont even remeber what happened to it, ithink i dropped it off the tail of an aurcraft, finally ending its life. funny thing is a guy i work with now had a 19.2V craftsmen drill,a nd its a really nice drill. what the heck did they do wrong on the 14.4 and 18v versions? they are clearly not built with the same quality and un desrving of the craftsmen name. I came here to explore replacing the batteries, but when i see everybody has same issues, and they are expensive, a new makita is now on my shopping list.

Wish I read these reviews b4 I bought the new charger a few months ago--I thought there's no way sears would make that bad of a battery. So it's gotta be the charger--right. Guess I was wrong. They stopped holding a charge after 3years. Even during the first 3 yrs the charge only lasted less than an hour of usage. Time to shop for a new brand.

I was on the site planning to replace these dead batteries from my combo set. I too used the drill maybe 4 times total and the batteries were either dead, or wont take a charge. Before someone assumes they were not "treated" properly, I would note that my old Milwaukee 12 V batteries stayed charged for months at a time, and I finally only replaced them after roughly ten years of use. Guess I wont replace these batteries but will throw the whole works.
