I was very disappointed with this set... The reason I bought it was because it was all 6 point which is great! But the quality is terrible. The chrome is very low quality and the castings are rough. The sockets are not chromed on the inside and will most likely rust over time. Danaher and Sears are producing a terrible product nowadays and are tarnishing the Craftsman name. Its very sad but this will be the last tool i will buy from them until the quality gets better.

This tool set cover you with 6 pt sockets from 5/32"-1-1/4" & 4mm-22mm. For a starter set that is a very complete socket set! Don't fall for the cost vs pieces value, the extras to make this a complete set that any homeowner can use to cover all his needs is cheap and you probably already have them. (Even the bigger 283+ pc sets like #35283 for $300 don't have this set beat.) You will need to add a few tools I listed below to complete this set: 1 Multi/Screw driver (Flat, Phillips, Hex, Torx) 1 Lg flat screw driver 1 ea. Comb wrenches (10,19, 20mm & 1/4, 5/16, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1" 1 ea BALL END Hex Key Set up to:10mm and 3/8" ea 10 pcs. 1 Torx Key set Pliers (Reg, needle nose, channel, vise grip, vise needle nose, etc...) 1 Med (10) Pipe wrench 2 Strap Wrenches (lg & sm) 3 Crescent Wrenches (12", 10" & 6") Everything I listed above easily fits in this case. I also have another tool box for carrying my bigger and specialty tools, like: torque wrenches, hammers, pry bars, etc...

You will be very disappointed unless you expect low quality tools. This is not even up to par for shade tree auto mechanics. The easy read is faint and won't last. The chrome is cheap and will certainly flake. Don't waste your money guys or gals. Trust me. Sears Craftsman has gone way down hill folks.

I have owned this set for 20 years and it has everything a DIY person will need. I supplemented it with a few longer extensions for working on my truck. I like the fact that it has a replacement guarantee although I have never had to use it. Buy it you wont be disappointed.

Almost every size socket for every drive size, all 6 point, just like it should be. But it's not perfect (almost). First of all, the chrome inside the wells is cruddy to say the least. Not really a functional element of the tool but I'm hoping it doesn't flake. Also, no drive size adapters. So simple but major element missing from this set. Would definitely buy again and again if I lost this set. The BIGGEST issue was shipping. UPS dropped the ball hard. Firstly, the tools were almost frozen causing condensation to build up on everything. I love to spend my money on wet tools. I'd rather have picked this up in the store but it's for shipping only. Also, there was considerable knicks in the chrome on many of the tools, obviously caused by rough handling on UPS' part. I keep my tools clean, polished and dry. I hated having to grab a rag and wipe down every socket in this set. Took forever. By the time I was done the rag was considerably damp, and I couldn't even get the insides of many of the sockets. Also, the case is worthless. Might as well not even included it. I put it away in a closet and will be putting all of the sockets on rails very soon. One of the ratchets (3/8'' drive) doesn't even fit in its dedicated slot. The combo wrenches have to be stuffed freely into a compartment so they can rattle around and ding against each other. Case is garbage if you respect your tools. In the end, it's the most complete 6 point socket set you can get for such a great price, all USA made by a great company. Just a few issues of concern, not to deter you from picking this set.

Great set when caught on sale. Being an all 6pt set makes it great in my opinion and also had a lot less overlapping sizes vs. a mixed 6pt-12pt set. The case could be better, but I had no plans of using it, so it didn't concern me. One thing that does concern me, and it has already been mentioned by others, is the finish quality of the sockets themselves. While the outer surfaces are pretty decent, the inner surfaces vary greatly from one piece to the next. Not a deal breaker in my opinion, but still a dissapointment to see Craftsman quality slipping away in yet another fashion. All in all a good set for starting out, or filling your 6pt section.

The Craftsman 145pc. 6 point socket set is one of the best socket sets Sears offers! I compared all the sets and this one seems to be the most complete. The sockets are dual marked with the laser etching and engraved with the sizes. Really like the looks of these sockets! I am not a fan of the case however. The case is really cheap and doesn't really hold the sockets very securely. I put all the sockets on socket rails and store the sockets, ratchets, and extensions in a 20 inch plastic Craftsman tool box. The socket rails fit perfect below the tool tray. I highly recommend this socket set and it is made in the USA!

I just recieved my set and I was dissapointed with the quality of the sockets. The "easy to read" was poorly stamped and could have been done in a more contrasting color to make it easier to see. The exterior finish of the sockets were uniform, not great but decent. The interior of the sockets varied greatly from sand blasted finish, to lightly plated. Some interiors look to have particles in the plating, others felt like they had not been de-burred. My 7/32 deep socket was a 12 point instead of a 6 point which I will have to get exchanged. The selection is extremely good with no excessive repeats like you get when you have 6 and 12 points in a set. One little nuisance is that the 1/2" metric size skipped 16mm. They could have eliminated the 9mm 1/2" instead. The case like others have mentioned is not all that great. The holder for the 1/4" socket wrench had to be slightly modified to get the wrench to click in. If you plan to store your sockets in the case I highly reccomend painting the raised sizes to make them easy to read. I used a silver metallic sharpie which worked very well. If it weren't for Craftsman's lifetime warranty I probably would not keep them. I guess for the price (compared to other made in USA tools) I can't complain too much, only to say that craftsmans quality has really gone downhill.
