This saw has some major flaws. I purchased this saw last year to do some trim work in my house. At the end of that first job which I consider to be light duty...cutting 2 1/4 inch pine casing for 5 doors, the motor break promptly stopped working. So winter passes and I decide its time for phase 2 of my trim replacement project. Dust it off, plug it in...after my first cut, the blade comes loose from the fence and the lasertrac cracks. I have gotten approx 2 hours of use and already have to troubleshoot and get it repaired.....Super.

Pros: Plenty of power, multiple position handle will work for everyone's grip comfort, laser aligned perfect where left side of blade cuts. Cons: Clamp has screws that need a screwdriver thumb screws will work better.

bought for a home improvement project. made about 150 miter cuts on 5-1/2 " cedar boards the first day. worked very well. was very easy to adjust between angles. plenty of power. very good saw for the money. The laser guide is off by about 1/8" I just used it to line up on side of mark. I'm sure I could adjust if i took the time to read the instructions :)

The saw was easy to set up and get to the job of cutting. It cut fast and accurate. I was able to save a lot of time and do a better job then is I had had to use a hand held circular saw.

Just got this miter saw and I couldn't be happier. It can handle the biggest jobs without a problem. The 12" blade cuts like a knife through butter. I would recommend this saw for use by any home owner. The laser tracking is a huge plus too!

The problem I have with the saw is that it does not cut all the way through a board, it leaves about 1/6 to 1/8 or material uncut. I returned this to sears under the warranty, they sent it to their repair facility and the answer when it came back was "there is no adjustment for this problem", so I guess I will return it again while it is still under warranty. Other than this problem, I like the saw.

Miter aw was packaged great. Unpacked it and put it to some use ASAP. The saw cut great out of the box. No adjustment needed. The laser is not trickey like some other reviews stated. Not sure if they are new to saws & woodworking? But its pretty simple?! I hooked up my shopvac to the dust port (instead of the sawdust bag).

I bought this saw about two years ago. I used it for molding in one small room with good results. I put it away and just recently moved into a new house and put it back in use. I completed one room using the saw to trim 3/4" Oak flooring, cross-cut 1/2" shiplap pine boards, and do the miter cuts on the molding. I worked only on weekends, and the main bearing on the output shaft of the motor failed after three months. I don't think that is an acceptable service life for a sealed bearing. I am looking for a replacement bearing to get the saw back in service. Unlike the other reviews, I was able to get square cuts and liked the performance of the saw. Unfortunately the warranty period is too short unless you use the saw continuously when you first purchase it.

I bought this saw at Christmas time and while this saw looks great on paper, in practice it's less than stellar. There were reviews about how this saw was not square with the fence and it sounded like use error (or improper setup). I have the same complaint, but let me explain. The fence is not straight/true across the width of the saw (in other words the fence is bowed). You can set up one side of the fence so it's square to the blade or you can set the other side of the fence so it's square to the blade, but both sides can't be square to the blade at the same time (unless your work piece is always longer than the fence). The fence adjustment bolts are positioned in such a way that the bow cannot be removed from the fence as part of the setup. From the center of the fence to either end there is about 3/32" of bow and that translates to the blade being out by close to a full 1 degree. It doesn't sound like much, but if you want a tight miter or if you are trying to make a square cut across something that is close to a full blades width, it's very clear that the tool is messed up. You can work around this defect by making every cut twice (the first cut to get your work piece small enough so that it doesn't span past the center of the fence and then a second, accurate, cut finish cut). A flat fence should be a given on a tool in this price range. Keep shopping around. I wished I would have. EDIT: Ended up returning this saw. The bowed fence was just too much of an issue. I leveraged the 1 year warranty and purchased what I hope will be a better built saw (small upgrade to a sliding compound miter). The unfortunate kicker, I purchased it in my local Sears store and when I looked online it was $50 less as there was an exclusive online sale (buy online and save $50). Now I have to get that fixed considering the online order and a store order (not in stock) will arrive in store on the same day... Lesson learned, check online before buying in store.
