MADE IN CHINA
I've had my mechanics tool set for a year now and it has a lot of good useful tools in it. BUT, I walk into sears this year and look at the label and find 3 little words: MADE IN CHINA. I was furious and looked at other sockets, wrenches, etc. to find they were made in China too. All of my Craftsman wrenches, sockets, extensions, etc. are made in USA. I'm furious that they are trying to replace good American made tools with CHINESE JUNK. The five stars are for the American made tools, and I refuse to buy the junk the Chinese make. If you agree, please give a thumbs up. I feel better now that I've given my 2 cents.

shocked

I was shocked to discover that upon purchasing this set that the ratchets were not Craftsman... Not only that, but they were not even made in the USA. They are stamped Tool Bench, Made in Taiwan. How is this even possible?!?! And of course the 1/2" Drive slipped on first use. Other than the ratchets all is good, but how does this happen? I havent heard back from Craftsman on this yet.. I would hope that the ratchets get replaced. If so I will update my review.

Great starter set that one can build upon

Picked up this mechanics set today. The case was sturdy and well designed but a bit large to store in the car. All the wrenches, sockets, ratchets were NOT imported but marked made-in-USA just the way I like it. Interesting to note that this 154 pc set had plenty of 6 point sockets and wrenches which were of good quality. The ratchets are the low-point of this mechanics set. The ratchets are the very basic low-end units with a coarse ratcheting mechanism that sounded cheap and vibrated the selector lever but was able to complete some tasks. These ratchets will become my "lenders/borrowers" tool because I prefer to use my Craftsman thin-profile ratchets with the smooth 60 tooth fine ratcheting mechanisms. Overall it's a great starter set to expand upon.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Really good deal - and all USA made

Did curbside pick up at my local mall store On outside of my clamshell case - fine print- made in USA Upon opening the case all pieces were contained in 8 plastic bags Indeed - everything made in USA Have to lay out all the pieces to fit into the individual stow spots in case So - some assembly required - kinda funny - this will take me a while Of course if you have a craftsman mechanics storage cart you would not be using the clamshell case - you would just place everything neatly in your drawers - gee that sounds uncomfortable Comparing the pieces in this set with a smaller craftsman (made in China) set I recently purchased - no significant difference that I can see The smaller Chinese made set does have all the sockets neatly laser etched - very easy to id The sets are always a bargain - even if not on sale If I go to the Sears hardware store - at the individual wrench/socket isle it becomes quite apparent that I would not be able to afford to buy all the individual pieces in this set at one time - BIG $ Craftsman hand tool warranty is great - I have never had to use it because I try not to abuse a wrench, my wrenches usually just disappear into thin air - no warranty covers wives, kids, brothers, friends borrowing and NOT RETURNING Do not see how anyone could go wrong getting this set Enjoy -

Still Made In USA (for now)

This is a great value considering the set is still full of USA made tools(at least the sets at my local store were). Get them before they are gone!

Hard to give this tool kit a better rating.

Got this tool kit for Christmas this year and here are a couple things I didn't like about the kit. (One) Being that they include extensions for all ratchets included in the kit except for the 1/2" why I don't know, But that's pretty dumb in my opinion. (Two) The ratchets included are the cheapest craftsman makes and brake when trying to brake bolts loose. (Third) Not really bad but still bugs me a little, Is they include L wrenches and no spot in the case where to put them.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A decent starter tool set, needs a few additions

I needed a mechanics tool set to work on my import car. First I laid my eyes on 182 pc and 192 pc tool sets. But those sets are consisted a lot of 12 pt sockets. After some research I figured this set contains more 6 pt sockets, less 12 pt sockets and still made in USA. I wish it had 2 more extension bars and markings were easier to read. I'd recommend this set over similarly priced 165 pc tool set.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
