TOO EXPENSIVE

It's a filter. It works.

we bought this shop vac when we were building our house over 30 years ago, I never thought I would find a filter to fit, this one fit perfectly. I am so happy that the shop vac still works as good as new and I can get parts for it if needed.

no one else has a filter this large (at least everyone I checked, which were many).

i bought this filter a few weeks ago and boy does it do a great job as you all know i stand by all of my craftsman tools and without this filter in my vac it wouldnt do the job i needed but this is a major must to have in your wet dry vac its the very best and it picks up all the particles the finest ever that craftsman has to offer dont be without it i always have 2-3 on hand for my vac so if you get this filter get a few so you dont run out .......steve

That I can still get filters for my 25+ year Sears shop vacuum is great. My 16 gallon vacuum still runs well and I use it at least every couple months for some chore in the shop or house. The vacuum has plenty of suction and will pickup everything that will fit through the hose or try to get it through the hose. Nothing will stop this vacuum.

I like this vacuum because this filter is BIG. This filter holds lots of dirt and can be cleaned with compressed air if you are careful. I don't have to clean it as often which I like as well. I replace the filter every year or so depending upon how often I use the vacuum and what I am picking up. Fine dust from drywall or sawdust will require you to clean the filter after the job. Nails, wood chips, and other larger items will not clog the filter.

Today, when I replaced the filter on the vacuum I noticed the foam gasket attached to the lid and designed to seal the filter to the motor housing was worn in 2 places. A bad gasket will shorten the life of the vacuum so I will need to make a new gasket. It should be simple as it is made of 1/8 inch foam and measures the same diameter as the filter.

Bought one of these filters to replace the oem  filter on my shop vac, That was years ago and its still going strong. 

 I have an older shop vac which has given many years if good service and is still giving very good service.  The problem is that this fine and very rugged vac takes a filter number 17809 (with an orange stripe), which is apparently no longer being offered by Sears for sale.

Now I ask you why would someone go to a Sears store rather than a ********** or *********** and buy a shop vac?  Buy a shop vac of admitedly higher quality which will last many years and perhaps even be bargained for by ones children in order to have a cleaner shop.  Why would one pay a premium price for a Sears product if the parts for that product were only going to be phased out in a few short years/

Doesn't make any sense to me that would would have to through out a perfectly good vac just because filters are no longer available.

Guess you know where I'm going to get my replacement.

I looked all over Atlanta and all over the internet for a replacement filter for my 20 year old Craftsman Wet/Dray Vac.
Granted some product numbering protocols had changed after so many years, but after only 5 minutes with the help of a Sears Craftsman Department representitive, I found the ecact filter I needed for my vacumn

While I was there I shopped for and found several other Craftsman items that I wanted to add to my vast collection of Craftsman tools.

This is the kind of cusomer service and satisfying customer ecperience that is missing in so many retail stores today.

I will always remember that, when I need the right part and right now, I can turn to Sears Craftsman for help and get it.
