In my personal opinion, there is no need to spend upwards of $250 for a matco or snap-on set of your basic punches and chisels. these things work awesome and they take a beating. the red color is cool and yea haven't had any kind of problem with them. same warranty as the big names-at about a tenth of the price. get them on sale.

This set is a good deal for the money. The punches seem a bit softer than they should be, I have bent two of them already. I do a lot of heavy chassis work, but the punches were used just to push out broken rivets. The chisels are greta, use them every day with no problems.

First off - this is an outstanding set! But the picture is way wrong - if you pay close attention you'll only count 14 tools! You do get 16 pcs but not what's pictured. Here's what you'll get: 2 nail sets (1/32", 1/16"); 1 prick punch (3/8"); 1 center punch (3/8"); 5 pin punches (1/16", 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16"); 2 alignment tools (5/32", 3/16"); 3 short cold chisels (1/4", 3/8", 5/8"); 2 long 12" cold chisels (1/2", 3/4") Mine came with the red e-coating too - sweet! If I'm not mistaken this set is discontinued and Sears is probably clearing inventory so they go on sale often. This has just the right ammount of tools IMO.

This is a very useful set of punches and chisels if you are a working mechanic. Most work you will do will not require specialized sizes so you will be able to drive whatever you encounter with this set. The chisels are unusually rugged and can withstand a good deal of abuse. Plus the chisels are easily resharpened on a bench grinder or with a suitable file. Why just three stars then? It is the darn black oxide finish! Rusts like crazy. I have a set of the older chrome plated punches and they still look almost new. Even the ones I have heated and bent to form specialized tools, the chrome is still intact.
