Excellent Mower,Bags Well, Start on First Pull Every time.
Great Mower the 160cc tears through my 12,000 square foot yard with no problem. So I thought about that $700 Honda and after reading the reviews and touching it in store I felt it was way to much money for the performance. I found this online at $269.00 cant really go wrong at that price. Reading prior reviews most are correct the Mower has a couple of shortcoming, Yes the bag could be bigger and yes if you run over a dirt spot the dust comes though. I live in the Northwest and we have wet heavy grass often, so the design of the bag allows airflow to catch all the grass. It does pick up all clippings, it comes on and off with ease. I would rate it a 5 star. The 160CC Honda mower has more than enough power and it is about 40% quieter than older mowers. It has more of Hum to it vs the Rrrrgghhhh of older mowers. Amble height settings, they move from notch to notch with little effort. I've read some complaints on the handle bars, I love them. It lets keep the mower moving and I can spin int 180 either direction with ease. There an old design of years back but I love em compared what I"ve tried on the newer designed throttles and what not. I have medium size hands, I 'm 52 Yrs old and have not experienced any of the complaints that others have written about. This Lawnmower has exceed my expectations in all areas, it's a great mower that does an excellent job of mowing. I would reocmend this Mower to friends & family as a good mower at a good value.

4 months old...in for service a 2nd time
The first 3 months and 2 weeks were great .... good feeling mower, able to handle my medium-ish urban yard well. I have a hill in the front that has to be almost a 60 degree incline (about 40 ft of frontage), so power assist has been key. Then about a month ago, the mower died in the middle of a mow. Still had gas in the tank, nothing unusual, just died. Cue the Sears service team ... took the mower to my local Sears and 10 days later, had it back with a new carburetor. Pulled the cord to start, mowed for about 2 minutes (engine running unevenly the whole time), then the mower died again. Just dropped the mower off - again - at Sears for service. This time, they put a $40 charge on my card for a repair under warranty. Not sure what that was all about, but there's not much choice since they have to do the repair. I bought the mower because it was a Craftsman with a Honda engine, but the reliability has been unacceptable. You may be better advised to look elsewhere.

Overall
Craftsman mower

Desperate for a new lawnmower after 16 years. Chose this model for several reasons, the mower I'm replacing has the Honda 160cc motor and still starts and runs like a champ so a definite plus on this model. The handle is along the lines of what I want because I have fairly small hands and mow a little over 1/2 acre once a week. When I got this mower home and tried it out it started easily with one pull and cut the grass quickly and easily. Unfortunately I found that the bag does not seat correctly to the body of the mower and grass and dust were everywhere. I immediately called Sears and they told me to bring the mower in. They were great - we looked at all the options for this mower, exchanging for a new mower of the same model, a completely different mower, etc. If you don't bag your clippings this is a great mower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very Disappointed

After having this same mower for 10 years, we needed to replace it. We literally brought 3 different ones home - all had some defect - guard didn't line up and dragged, cables bent/cut, etc. Had to purchase a different brand.

Buyer beware

I bought this mower and liked it. It was a little slow on hills. But after two years and three months the engine was ready to explode. When I tried to start it the mower made a screening noise. I took it into the Sears shop and the tech said the motor needed to be replaced. Three months after the warranty expired. I had always checked the oil kept it clean and did not use it in any strange way. Planned obsolescence ?

Overall
So disappointed!

Ten years ago I purchased a similar model from Sears and it ran smoothly and effortlessly for those 10 years. Other than standard maintenance, the only thing that had to be replaced were the tires after 9 years. I am in Florida and our weather requires weekly mowing for most of the year and every other week for a short duration during the cooler moths. My past positive experience influenced my purchase of this mower this past week to replace the great machine that I had such good luck with, thinking that I would receive an equivalent mower, the specs seemed to match. The motor was the same and does seem to start easily and run fine, but that is where the similarity's end. This mower is made of much thinner metals and uses much more plastic. The handle does not fold easily as suggested, parts must be removed. The back wheels are only somewhat larger than the front. While mowing using the mulching set- up grass and debris blow up at the user from under the machine and in between the cover flap and the deck, The bag blows dust. The handle is quite uncomfortable. The wheels do not appear to have any ball bearings, just plastic on metal and manufactured with very thin plastic. The most distressing issue with this mower for me was the wheel adjustment levers. If you never need to change your settings you'll be fine, but if you need to change them frequently, as I do, from front to back yard, you will be frustrated, unless you have very large hands. The back levers are very short and extremely difficult to manipulate unless you can grab the lever and tire at the same time that you lift the mower with the other hand. I ended up having to extend the levers past the tires so that I could make the necessary adjustments. This mower is cheaply manufactured and even if the engine lasts I do not expect to get more than a year or two before parts break or wear off. Shame on sears, this will be my last craftsman mower. Such a disappointment!

Nice mower

Easy to put together. Started on first light pull, works well, I bought because of the Honda engine and self-propelled combo. For the price, its a great setup. I thought the speed was pretty good, only issue is the handle which has been brought up in other reviews.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

needed another one

we have this same mower, but its like old as dirt w have had it for years, literally like 7-9 years, and we have never done any maintenance on it other than add gas or oil & all that was wrong with my old one was the handle for self drive needed repair. so we decided just to buy a new one. it was on sale too which was great- love that it is lighter than the old one & I like the black instead of red. the Honda motors are hard to kill just like the cars. the grass collection bag is easy to put on and take off as well, I will always stick with sears & Honda mowers.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I think good, but received a defective one

I bought it because of the honda engine. After 30 minutes, I couldn't get it to start. Returned it and picked up a honda brand mower. Started the first pull. I think the one I got May have been defective. My previous craftsman mower lasted 25 years!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice mower

I have been using this mower weekly for 3 months. The mower starts on the first pull and cuts the grass very well. My yard is a pretty standard sized suburban yard. The self propelled function works well, especially given the uneven areas throughout my yard. The water hose receptacle for cleaning the undercarriage is a nice touch. Overall I am very satisfied with the mower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
