I bought this mower to replace a 12 year old similar craftsman that is still running strong but was moved to our rental house. I like the easy starting but the handle could be better, the bag could be larger and the width between tires should have been the same front and rear. The mower doesn't track well. This isn't a problem unless you have to mow up against a surfaces or your tires have to follow eachother in a deep mow strip. I guess I will have to give another review after a year or two.
This is a Husqvarna HU700F model made for Sears. It has a Honda engine with a choke lever for starting at cold. Original Honda mower use an automatic choke control. Automatic choke will stuck when it is dirty. This lever choke is built better than the automatic choke. Just need to switch the choke position for cold start the engine. The engine normally start in two to three pull. Just like the Husqvarna chain saw engine. It is typical. Most Honda engine should start with one pull or two pull. It has a variable speed front wheel drive. Just no belt cover under the deck to protect the belt. The belt will slip over time and lost the speed control for the front wheel drive.

This was a really great purchase for me!! The Honda engine is top notch, very quiet, starts on the first pull, and Ive noticed that it is more fuel efficient than my old Briggs mower. The ONLY negative comment I have is that it is a bit of a heavy mower, but it is self propelled.
This mower was great, started first pull, mulched well, until one day I went to start it and discovered an ant colony living in the plastic compartment located along the back wall of the underside of the deck. I presume this piece allows the blade to stay in close contact to better mulch but it has huge gaps that allow grass to pack in behind it. Cleaning it requires removal of three bolts and tipping or inverting the mower (pull the spark) to pull the plastic piece. I discovered this design flaw after roughly 20 cuts and had to clean and then nuke my mower with insecticide since the colony had expanded into the hollow handles. I used the mower once more and checked the plastic piece...jammed full of grass again. On the positive side, Sears gave me full credit towards a different model even though I had purchased it a year prior...yay Sears. A not buy.
I did not know to look at how the plastic parts are made when I bought it. I looked at reviews and lots of shopping. This mower seemed lesser of the evils, considering the 400 dollar price tag, (including the 3 year protection plan). The first time I used it, with pretty high grass, it was a real pain and to say the least, a challenging experience. I give the mower the benefit of the doubt and blamed the difficulty on the height of grass. I have used it several times since and had better experiences but still having issues that progressively get more frequent each time I use it. 1. The side chute attachment is of poor quality. ....a. Pushing the mower through tougher grass ........makes the chute come unattached. ....b. Turning sharp makes it come unattached. ....c. The problem gets worse as the mower ........height gets lower. 2. The filter housing is poorly made; Meaning it is a snap on type, unlike the previous ....model I own which is held together with a bolt screw. ....a. One side of the two snaps is already broken. ....b. The front filter cover vibrates off sometimes ........while I am mowing. 3. The front wheels lock up when trying to pull the mower back. ....a. If I have the self propel engaged and back-up ........before allowing the front wheels to move ........forward a bit, with out the propel engaged, the ........wheels lock. Therefore, I have to stop ........momentum and push slightly forward to unlock ........the wheels. 4. The mower consistently throws small rocks and debris to the rear of the mower. ....a. I have to wear safety glasses, shirt, and jeans. ..........i. The Honda motor is strong and throws ..............debris backwards, toward me, at a fast ..............velocity. (It has caused blood several ..............times.) ..........ii. I keep my mouth closed in fear a rock will .............fly back and chip a tooth. 5. The high rear wheel design only comes with a stationary handle. ....a. At only 5"8' tall, the handle is set too low. ..........i. My back is under stress the entire time I .............mow with this mower. ....b. Maneuvering is not easy, and I find myself ........hunched over often. I give the mower a chance even after it was so difficult to use. Unfortunately, I let too much time go by before I realized all the faults with this lawn mower, and now can't can't take it back for a return on my money. (30 days at Sears) When self-propel is engaged, the Honda motor nearly outruns me. It is more than a brisk walk, for sure. I end up out of breath after a while. That is only after I propped-up the side chute with a stick because I have to stop and replace the attachment each time it comes off. (Very often) There are multiple delays while mowing. Between the side chute coming off, the filter housing vibrating off, and the wheels locking up when pulling backward, it makes for a frustrating few hours on a relatively nice day.
