Craftsman 16 Inch Metal Hand Box - Compact & Lightweight Box

For the money I spent it is a great little tool box.  The plastic tote tray is the downside of it and I question how long the tote will be in service.  I was hoping for a metal tote tray with a 3/8" drive socket storage rack built into the tray like some of the larger Craftsman metal hand boxes have.  The Craftsman 1-1/8" 12 pt. combination wrench is the largest wrench size I could get to go in the bottom.  I planned to store in the bottom a set of combination wrenches (5/16" thru 1-1/8" with roll pouch), 7 pc. set of nut drivers with roll pouch, 12 oz. ball pein hammer, soft tipped hammer, 10" adjustable wrench, a 6 pc. punch & chisel set with pouch, and long pliers.  In the top I planned to store the short pliers, a 6 pc. set of 3" and 4" phillips and slotted screwdrivers, 6" adjustable wrench, short-arm hex key set with caddy, a 12' measuring tape, and a 1/4" combination wrench.  All of it fit.  I carry a full set of standard and deep Craftsman 3/8" drive sockets in a separate plastic hand box to balance the load.  This technique of loading helps lower the risk of back pain when I lift the box.

Excellent tool box compared to the cloth and plastic ones.

I prefer this one over the plastic and cloth ones. It's a solid metal case and things will stay in place especially if you have some delicate tools/objects that you don't want to bend. Of course, you may need some means to organize them inside as it comes with just one plastic tray.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great

As a new homeowner this toolbox fits my needs perfectly. I am looking forward to filling it with Craftsman tools! Both my wife and father purchased this box for me. Returned one for two sets of combo wrenches.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works great and really lasts

The metal hand tool box is quite handy and mine has lasted for years. It is light enough to tote around and it holds the tools you need for most of your easy, light around the house work. I also use it for tools I use for the car because it is easy to haul out to the driveway and work on the car. I used to keep it in my trunk just so I had tools available wherever I happened to be. Great product that I highly recommend.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great toolbox for the price

I just bought this yesterday. This toolbox is great for the money. I was at ********** and ******* earlier, and couldn't find one I liked - the other metal toolboxes I found were very flimsy and made lots of metal creeking sounds. Some were too big. But this 16" is just the Perfect size. This Craftsman is very well built (besides the plastic tray inside - more later). It's better built than the popular Stack-On metal toolbox brand IMO. The metal on this Craftsman is a lot harder and thicker than the other metal toolboxes than competitor brands - so it feels a lot more sturdy when there are heavy tools inside. The paint enamel is also thicker and "richer/glossier" because it's "baked" on instead of sprayed on like other brands. The only downside is the plastic removable tray - it doesn't hold on and always falls to the bottom. But I'm going to modify it a bit so that it stays on really well - shouldn't be too hard because I am a handy-man. To sum up, after hours of looking around for the most favorable toolbox, I chose the Craftsman.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
