I have been using the Impact Driver on 2 1/2 inch screws. It has worked like a champ. Now if I can just get better bits to go with it. The cheaper bits I have been using with drills have not held up so well. I have not tried it yet on 3 inch screws. Oh, i do drill a small pilot hole to minimized the wood splitting. I am very impressed with this tool.

This is a great compliment to any regular drill. If you never had an impact, do yourself a favor and pick one up. The quality is great. this comes with a battery and a charger.

But this tool. I'm a mechanic and i work in Michigan. I use this on almost anything I can use it on because it makes my job quicker and easier. I use this with the 3/8 in adapter. It helps so much. And for only $50. You can't beat it. It even holds up to the others guys dewalt cordless impact driver 12v. I highly recommend it.
Really enjoy using my new power tool. It is lightweight and very easy to use. So easy to handle my eight year old has mastered this convenient tool. However it did not come with bits, so I had to purchase them separately which was not ideal.

This is a powerful little impact driver. This tool has a great ergonomic feel and you can tell it's not a toy. For the price of the batteries alone, the Nextec line provides a great value with good performance. I also own a Makita 18v impact driver and although I can tell the Makita is more powerful, this Next impact driver will be adequate for most jobs around the house. I now only keep my Makita around just in case, but haven't had to use it for quite some time now.
I have owned and used several Craftsman cordless tools over the years. I had noticed that the cordless impact drivers were becoming popular. Since retiring, I do lots of mechanical chores that require driving screws and using sockets to tighten and remove bolts. I tried out a few models at a local hardware store and then tried out the 17428 Nextec 12-volt Cordless Compact 1/4 Impact Driver at Sears to see how they all compared. I was presently surprised to find that this relatively inexpensive one packed lots of driving power! Craftsman continues to produce very reliable, competitively priced tools for an average user, such as myself!
