The Craftsman 17586 NEXTEC Drill/Driver offers 195 in.-lbs. of torque with a dual speed of 0-1300 Hi and 0-400 Lo. With its powerful torque and dual speed feature, you can use this drill/driver for different applications ranging from driving screws into wood, plastic and metal to drilling. A 2-speed gearbox means that you can adjust the speed for drilling and driving operations.

I charged the battery and drilled one 1/8" hole in a 2x4 and the drill just stopped. The led light was blinking but the drill would do nothing. I shook it and it started working again...until I tilted it to drill another hole. I managed to get 10 holes drilled and screwed in 10 screws. I put the battery back on the charger to top it off and the light on the charger was solid green meaning that the battery was fully charged. I can't exchange it because I got the last one the store had. Too bad. I was really excited to find this drill for $50.

I find this drill very decent. I found it and purchased online, in reality it lives up to expectations. Looks and feels better than I thought. It feels substantial to hold. Not heavy, not cheaply light. I purchased this item to use as cordless screwdriver. It could be reliable demolition tool as it is strong, When driving screws in I am little disappointed, because the torque regulation on lowest setting, leaves it too strong for my application. (I am accustomed to my 3.6 Volt Versapak driver, that was perfect, this baby has 12 Volt power.) It is possible that it will loosen up with use (most likely not) or I should learn to control it better with the trigger as it is touch sensitive (harder you press - faster it spins). Battery charges quickly. The LED light is not necessary or any useful in my opinion, other than it does indicate when battery is exhausted. Drill does not feel weaker or slower gradually, eventually it will start flashing the light and stop working until recharged. Something to get used to. Overall, I like it.
This is my second Nextec 12 volt drill. The first one is still going strong after over 2 years of hard use. It is light weight and the balance is the best of any other I have used including my old Black and Decker. The battery last a long time between charges, of course it varies with what you are using it for. The lithium battery doesn't lose charge between uses like NiCad and NiMh batteries do.
Drill is very easy to handle, well designed, and light weight. Drill has all the power needed for those simple around the home jobs, and battery seems to hold up well during those projects without need of a recharge. The Lithium-Ion battery is a plus, just leave it on the charger, and it's always ready to go, it will never over-charge, but stay fully charged.
This Drill Might be small in size, But it packs power. The Design is awesome and its so easy to Handle. This is Great addition to anyone tool kit. I would recommend this to my Family and friends.
Old unit had worn out battery replaced with this model because I own a multi tool and uses same type battery. Unit works great for small projects around the house. Owned for a couple of weeks no issues would recommend
I bought this for my husband he has MS and has limited use of his hands and this drill/driver is so light weight that he can now do things he enjoyed doing like now can put his buffing pad on it and polish and wax his corvette. And do small jobs around the house that he couldn't do before.
This drill is terribly average. I've used it a few times to back up and screw in screws, and once to drill a hole. It has not yet broken and it seems to hold a charge well. I was a little disappointed (both in myself and in the product) that the drill came with 0 drill bits. I wonder whether it's even a drill at that point, but I guess that's more of a philosophical question.
