Preparing this mower for it's first use I noticed the throttle and drive cables rubbed against the rear wheel and thought this is a poor design. About four rows into it's very first mow the engine shut down - turns out the plastic housing that holds the throttle and drive cables broke free from the handle - the small plastic (cheap) fastener broke off making the mower useless! Now I have a mower full of gas and oil and trying to get to Sears (via phone or web) for assistance has been a nightmare. Yes, it was quiet but not as quiet as I saw in other reviews - it's still a lawn mower! Not sure how I'm getting this back to the store yet or how much more time I'll waste but it's going back. By he way, the Shop Your Way easy curb side pickup also failed (due to ":technical difficulties") on a rainy day. I had to park and go inside and help get the mower into my car. All around bad experience.
I've used Craftsman mowers for the past 20+ years. This is my 3rd mower and as you might guess, things have changed since my last purchase. I purchased my mower in the middle of the summer (2014) and as of this writing, used it a number of times to finish the summer and mulch leaves in the fall. I have a steep embankment in my front yard so the self-propelled feature is a life saver. The incline is so steep (about 60 degrees) that I cannot mow 'across' but have to go directly up or down the embankment. I am able to engage the self-propelled mechanism and the mower pulls up the embankment easiy. I especially like the trigger-like handle to engage the wheels. It is a variable speed trigger which works perfectly when maneuvering around trees and shrubs. If your yard is the size that you'd use a push mower instead of a riding mower, this mower has plenty of power to tackle any size yard. The mower does not have a primer pump (button), so I was not surprised to have to pull twice on occasion to start the mower after a week of storage. However, anytime I have to stop for a few minutes while mowing, she starts up with only one pull, even a half pull. Living in the midwest I waited until almost all the leaves had fallen (December) to mulch. I lowered the blade level a notch or two and was very satisfied with the results. My wife had raked some of the yard into piles and I plowed right in and the piles almost disappeared. I came back over the mulched area with my bag attached and 'vacuumed' up a considerable amount which was then recycled. In areas where we had not raked, the mower did a fantastic job mulching. Switching from mulching mode to bagging mode is very easy. The way the bag fits insures that the yard waste will be blown into the bag. I was impress with the minimal amount of dust when mulching my leaves. With this mower comes a number of safety features. Everything appears to be well designed to not only provide safety, but maintain effeciency. (I.e. the safety features don't get in your way!) The mower is marketed as a 'quiet' mower and it does seem to be quieter than my previous one. However, it is still a mower and it makes noise. So, the neighbors still know you're out there mowing. Overall, I am quite pleased with this mower and would highly recommend it.
Very please with the new craftman mower. Easy to start. Quiet and fuel efficient. Lighter than my previous model. Started first pull straight out of the box. Came with a spare blade and oil.
Great diaper bag. It's just the right size not to big or to small. It has plenty of pockets to hold everything you need and then some. The inside also has a plastic lining to protect it from spill and stuff. Which I like because with my luck there is always an accident and the plastic makes it easy to clean up and the bag don't get dirty and smelly.

So far so good. I was able to put the mower together in less than 10 minutes. I have only cut the grass one time so far but it cut great. Lots of power and the mower was much quieter than a normal lawn mower.
I bought this mower to replace my old Toro that has been with me for years. I knew I wanted something that was self propelled, quiet, and powerful. this mower fulfilled all of those needs. Unlike many others in the same price range, this one came with TWO blades - the one installed was for general purpose bagging and light duty mulching, and the second for heavy duty mulching and bagging or discharging. The gen. purpose blade cuts well, but if you are wanting to mulch and your grass is thick, go with the second. The mower also comes with these neat little cartridges that drip fuel stabilizer into the tank so that your gas stays fresh- very cool. I gave this mower four stars because I had to reroute the cables so that they did not interfere with the wheels in the rear. they also were run under the rear door catch, which would have lead to premature wear. aside from that, this mower is quiet and powerful enough to mulch pretty much anything you throw at it, it comes with 2 blades (which others do not), and it starts very easy without the need for priming or choke.
This lawn mower is noticeably quieter than any other standard walk-behind lawn mower that I have used, and works just as well. It is sturdy and the engine is made in the USA, which is always a good thing. It comes with two blades, one for standard mulching and side discharge, and another for "high suction" for the bagging attachment. I have only used the standard mulching blade so far and it works pretty well (sometimes I wonder if that blade doesn't stand up the grass well enough to cut it because some grass blades look a little longer, but maybe I am just looking to hard). How I understand it, the reasoning behind the two blades is that the regular one for mulching has a slimmer profile and helps keeps the mower quieter for normal use. I am overall very happy with it and think it is a good value for the money. I would buy this same mower again.
