I read the reviews and thought I would go for it. I've never had a problem with any other Craftsman products. After no more that 5 minutes of use the chain popped off. From there the blade they give you went dull unusually fast and to top it off its letting out too much chain oil so its not cutting at all. Rather burning the wood that it comes in contact with because of the large amount of oil on the chain and splashing all over the ground.

I bought this saw winter 2013 into 2014 I have used other saws they don't stand up to this saw don't let other people scare you away they must not know how to use a saw I would recommend this saw I have cut a tree that was 30 inches round using this saw I still don't need to sharpen the blade yet and I have cut a lot of trees just don't let the chain get in the dirt or come in contact with metal check the oil every 30 minutes or less
I have had my 116' craftsman chain saw for 20 years. I have done yearly check ups by a local chainsaw repair shop. I have had the primer bubble replaced, the plastic pick up tubes, and four chain bars replaced. I can't count the number of chains that have been resharpened and replaced, I have taken down all kinds of mature oak, hickory, maple,, and all sorts of brush. This chain saw keeps on running, I have been wondering how long it will last, so I can bet a new one. I doubt many brands can say a chain saw has lasted 20 years. The only issue I would say is it does not put enough bar oil, and I have do put some on every gas fill up. Gas consumption is less that I have wanted, as I would like a brake a little more often.
The chain saw works great. We cleaned the yard of a lot of brush and a few trees 12 inches and under. But the reason for four stars is the pull start is hard to pull. Like most saws you will need to tighten the nut for the blade after several cuts or the bar comes loose and the chain comes off.
For small jobs around the house you cannot chain saw. Easy to start and handles well around trees. If you want a light weight easy start chain saw try this one.

This is my first chainsaw and I have been extremely satisfied with its performance. I've used it 6-8 times in the last 8 months. This baby cuts 6-8" limbs like a hot knife through butter. It starts easily and the vibration isn't bad at all. Adjusting the chain is easy and the carrying case is handy. Being my first one, I can't compare it to any other brand. However, I can't imagine a better saw for the average homeowner.

I used this fine for cutting a small tree. next month I needed to cut two more small trees. After starting on the clean up of the second tree, limbs cut to three foot lengths. the saw would no longer idle. The idle adjustment did nothing. it needs to have the carb adjusted already. Had to have it repaired did not finish my work
