The Craftsman 18 inch Steel Bar Clamp is a very handy little clamp to have in your collection of clamps. I have various sizes of bar clamps, but this is probally the most used size of this clamp in my collection. The steel constuction makes it a strong clamp to have and with the protective coverings for the feet of the clamp, you don't have to worry about marking up your project pieces. I have learned that you don't have to clamp a piece extremely tight, but you need a clamp that will not slip or slide while it is clamped in place and these clamps do just that. They stay in place. I use these clamps a lot while I am making exact duplicate pieces and use these clamps to hold the pieces in place while I use my flush trim bit or pattern bit on my Craftsman router. I also use these clamps to hold pieces in place, while I drill pilot holes so they don't slide or move around while I ma making these holes. I use these clamps for glue projects or when I am using construction adhiesive to bond different pieces together. These clamps even hold my pieces to my work bench while I am sanding on them or making cuts with my C3 jigsaw. I used thse clamps just a few days ago to hold mulitple boards togehter while I made muliple kerf cuts to make notches to assemble my project. These clamps are very easy to grip and to tighten or loosen while you are working and they can be used with one hand, if needed. The slide operates very easy to adjust to the width of the porject piece you are working and so far, I have not had any of these clamps slip on the bar. A very dependable clamp.
