For the price range of this clamp it is well constructed, easy to reverse, easy to use, good clamping power, and the rubber pads are attched very securely to the clamp and provide excellent cushion for delicate work pieces.

I bought these to hold some cabinet doors together that I was building. They were perfect for the job. The jaws are padded and no slippage when tighened. Very easy to release.

I had exactlythe same problem as Sierra viste and the anonymous reviwer. But wasn't as clever as the Anon guy so I threw the clamp away. Unfortunately the majority of clamps being sold today have very low quality. Lets face it the lowest bidder on supplting the tool relies on the lowest bidder for his materials.

I owe 6 of these clamps, and the plastic stud that the 2 reverse springs are attached to has broken on 4 of them. That is the only problem I have had with these clamps. They need to make the stud metal. So what I did with mine was open them up and drill a hole were the stud broke and inserts a screw in it's place. Re attach the 2 springs to the screw and you will have no more problems with these clamps.

I was using the clamp today and when I started to reverse the grip the mechanism stopped. I couldn't get it to work. Unfortunately this clamp only comes with a one (1) year warranty. and it has been over a year. Local Sears store confirmed there is no replacement. So I took off the four screws to see if I could fix it. There are two spings for the reverse mechanism and both where detached. Unfortunately as best I could tell one end of each is attached to a plastic stem that was broken off. Just great. If anyone has had this problem and was able to fix it I woould appreciate your comment.

These bar clamps are well-made, versatile (doubles as a spreader), and very strong. They do not leave any marks on soft wood, and the notched V-groove on the pads is a very functional feature. I have a few of the older style Craftsman bar clamps and this new design is far superior to the old design. I use these things all the time for everything! I already owned three larger Craftsman bar clamps and had to buy some more when I saw them on sale. I just bought two of these 18-inch clamps and I intend to buy some more of the 12 and 24-inchers as well. These clamps are the best bang for your buck, period. These are quite a bit stronger than standard Irwin clamps, and definitely less expensive (even when they are not on sale). The only non-Craftsman clamps that compare in quality in strength are quite a bit more expensive, so there is no reason to even consider any other clamp.
