Great price for a great item. This Craftsman evolv 12 amp saw is a very good item to have. Ive never owned a saw so didn't really know what type I would need. After being helped buy a great salesperson it was this one that made it home. It is light, powerful and very handy. I love that it still carries the Craftsman name. This cut all the plywood and 2 by 4s for the fort I made my kids.
the saw works well but as soon as your blade gets the least bit dull it kicks like a mule, never had that problem with other circular saws, but as long as you have a new blade works very well,
Unfortunately, this worked 3 times, then just died on me. Nothing. Dead. Worked great when it worked. Plenty of power. For me, it only lasted about 3 uses of maybe 5 minutes each before it died...Not what I was looking for.

This Craftsman 18780 Evolv 12 amp corded 7 1/4 in circular saw is great for the beginner do it yourself person. It is light wight and easy to use and it comes equipped with a blade and a on board blade wrench. Overall it is a good product.
I purchased this saw to use exclusively to cut Hardie board siding. I didn't want to ruin my other more expensive saw with the excessive dust that cutting the cement based siding creates. It worked so well cutting the siding that I now use it as my primary saw for most of my projects. I have now used it to cut all sizes of dimensional lumber and plywood with no problems. It cuts nearly as well as any other circular saw I have used, and weighs significanly less. I always use a high quality blade, and that certainly helps with ease of cutting. The depth and angle adjustments can both easily be completed without tools.
Weight was one consideration. The saw is suitable for occasional use. Higher end saws were on sale, but this one still stood out as the best value for the light duty that my adult daughter would need. The saw has all the standard features of a circular saw but is made for a reasonable cost. I gave a 4 because it would not be suitable for a contractor, but as a home owner for a small home it has all the necessary features.
In comparing this unit to its competitors, it seemed like the absence of a spindle lock set this one behind. But after considering whether I really needed this feature, I decided that the benefit of a full 45 degree bevel this unit offered was worth the inconvenience of not having a spindle lock given how rarely I expected to be changing blades. When I got it home, I was surprised to find that this unit did, in fact, have a spindle lock. It sure would have been nice if the website or the box indicated this. It would have saved me a lot of time. The unit is a good light / moderate duty circular saw, that will serve the occasional needs of most any home owner. Blade height and bevel are easy enough to adjust.
