Wow this is a very nice piece. This socket is my first laser etched craftsman hand tool. The chrome is nicely polished to complement the rest of my tool set. The rubber tube inside is to protect the spark plugs from breaking. This item is still made in usa so get it while you still can. I got it for under $2 and that's a steal.
Needed a spark plug socket for motorcycle. It seems that Sears was the only place I could find one that fit the deep socket. Now I have 4 sockets in this size & only one works - the Craftsman!

I grew up in the day when all you needed was a 5/8 and a 13/16 spark plug wrench. Well, some additional sizes are needed as American cars/trucks change and more foreign-designed vehicles find a home on our roadways. This is a great value in a size that costs much more off of the "tool truck." I agree that I wish it had at least a short universal and extension on it, would make it much more user friendly. In addition, Craftsman sockets have been AS954 compliant for several years. This aerospace specification accounts for the radiused area at each "point" on the socket. Better contact with the fastener, no more rounded fasteners. One famous tool company had this patent tied up for years but the process is now available to all manufacturers and we see it applied to Craftsman sockets. Better deal than ever.

I have used this socket several times on a couple old NGK spark plugs in a Suzuki and a Yamaha motorcycle. It grabs well and fits nice and tight, but not too tight. Much less expensive than a Motion Pro 18mm spark plug socket.
