My favorite VAUGHAN framer finally gave out. I prefer a traditional Hickory handle, but they can break. I just purchased this hammer for a major project at home. The side nail puller gets nails that the normal claw can't reach. The flat top & nail starter are great for putting nails near other objects (Walls, ceilings, door jams). Weight is less than my old hammer (19 oz vs 24 oz) but the extra length of the handle compensates nicely without the fatigue from a heavier hammer. This hammer says CRAFTSMAN on a sticker, but it is really made by my favorite hammer maker. Highly recommend this hammer.
This hammer when I first bought it seemed like it would be great. There are some things to get used to like the fact that it has a slick coating on it that on the striking surface must be scratched off and secondly the face of the hammer is offset downwards a bit making setting a nail a thing to get used to. The flat profile is nice and the straight claw is good for digging into wood. Side nail puller is really nice feature as well as the magnetic nail set on top. I bought this hammer with a cats paw and a small pry bar which are great.

I bought this hammer after i had been hired by a do-all construction company and realized that my 16 oz curve claw just wasnt enough for a lot of tasks. First of all this thing is a tank and takes loads of abuse. Second, while it may not be perfect for any one task, it is at very least good at many. Whether it be masonry, framing, or demo, you can easily make this hammer work for you. The nail setter and extra puller are very handy in tight spaces. And, while it isnt as heavy as some hammers it has the follow through to make up for it. The shape and angle of the face took a little getting used to, but i found both to be beneficial for demo work. Love this hammer!

This hammer was affordable at a great price. The Craftsman 19oz. Heavy Construction Steel Handle Hammer was a must have for doing carpentrywork. The weight is evenly balanced to drive nails into wood and does not cause undue weight on your wrist while using it.

I picked up this one when a normal 16 oz hammer would not cut it. For many years I only used wood handled hammers thinking that they gave more cushion. This hammer stood up to framing, demolition and even smacking the odd bit of concrete. Its handle is good and I now often carry it on my toolbelt. The nail starter is a neat gimmick but most of the time i forget that it is there. My only complaint the balance in relation to the long handle seems to be a bit off.
