I really like using the trimmer. It is light and very quiet. The non tap string feed is very easy to use. The only minor drawback is the short battery life, but on the bright side, it doesn't take long to charge the battery back.
I was fed up with the oil/gas mixing and tempermental starting of two stroke units, so went out and bought this because I already have the same batteries for my other craftsman tools and have had good service from them. Sorry to say this unit doesn't have nearly enough power to be considered a serious contender for anything but the very lightest job. Billed as a 12" cutting swath when the automatic line cutter limits the actual swath to 8.5". Although quality seems good as with my other 19 volt craftsman battery power tools, Maybe the 40 volt is what I should have bought instead.
This is the second trimmer I have bought, the first one lasted only about two summers. The first one just quick working, it was not the battery because it still worked in my blower. In essence it was cheaper to buy a new one than to get the old one fixed. I like the trimmer, easy to use, change the string, the battery is long lasting but one would think it should last longer than two years. the main reason I bought it again is because there is just not many to choose from in the battery powered trimmers
Comes with a battery valued at 70 bucks. Easy to assist the shaft length on the fly. Battery lasts long enough to do the whole yard including edging the driveway and along the curb. Cuts gas but won't strip a trees bark.
