Must Buy This!
i just got it today and it cuts so good. i love how it comes in the box fully asembled and how u only have to add the oil and gas to it. wich it comes with start up oil. it cuts so smooth. right to the t. and its easy to start, three primes, pull and off u go. i love how the grass bag is easy to put on. i only had to empty it 2x for a mid size yard. and it uses little gas. it uses less then 1/4 of gas in the mower from full for a mid size yard. this is one sears/craftsman product u have to buy!

Only an average mower
My Craftsman mower "died" after 6 years and needed some additional maintenance so I decided to purchase a new mower. The description / specs listed on the Sears site is not very detailed, especially when it comes to the engine size. Some mowers are rated via torque others indicate "cc" for the engine size. This is important inforamtion and should be consistent between mowers for comparison. Also it would be nice to know the difference between the Plantinum and Gold engines. So I purchased this mower yesterday, and mowed that afternoon. Easy first set up and start ... why wouldn't it be. It takes me about 1.25 hours to mow my lawn. This mower is slightly under powered for thick grass. The under side of the deck gets built up with clippings and needs to be cleaned during mowing. The rear wheels get matted with clippings and eventually the clippings fall off in clumps.

Choking and clogging

This mower, while it starts easily and runs well, is poorly designed. Grass over a couple inches or damp at all will choke this mower almost instantly. Also, the rear drive gear takes up most of the rear area, so the chute is very narrow, and the bag sits at a steep incline, so it cannot handle bagging more than a couple handfuls at a time. The side ejection is no better. The hole is the same size, so the clogging is just as bad, and the chute is flimsy plastic that is secured only by spring tension, and falls off frequently. This thing only seems to be good for very short, thin, dry, nearly-dead grass. I will only use low-bagged front drive mowers from now on. This thing is a dud.

I officially have a crush on my lawn mower!!

Last year my husband bought a 675 model for our son to make some money with. It sat outside on the porch all winter. Yesterday, June 2, 2012, I went out to see if it would work. We get subzero temperatures and it was covered with dust and leaves, but I was astonished at how easily it started. Took two pulls the first time, and since then only one. How easy is that?

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great mower for the price

I purchased this mower in Aug/2009 for less than $300. To date it has never let me down. I do keep it in the garage however, and that helps with weather-related issues such as starting problems from condensation in gas/carburetor, and dry rotting of the pull rope, plastic parts, etc. I have changed the blade twice; once because of a rock, and the other after the second year of usage because of pitted/worn out blade, etc. Each time I replaced it with a ?mulching? blade as I stopped collecting the grass clippings. We have a smaller-to-average yard and it does the job I need it to do, which is to basically say it starts every single time after priming it 3x, and it cuts the crass evenly. Even after running it out of gas and then filling it, it starts on the first pull after priming it 3x. What makes a mower is the engine and the Briggs & Stratton engine is a fantastic is a great one. If there is any negative feedback it would have to be the Rear Skirt (tearing of the rubber) that hangs below the deck, and the plastic wing knobs that cover the handle thru-bolts which cracked then broke off at one end. They were less than $20 for the parts. Again, this is a great inexpensive (if there is such a thing) lawn mower that has yet caused me to curse it or even get frustrated with it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Do not buy this product from Sears

We have had nothing but problems with our mower. our first Craftsman ran for years with zero problems. our last purchase ran fine for the first few months then the pull cord broke. Sears had it for six weeks of summer month mowing and supposedly repaired it. Our first time using it after picking it up and it took about 40 pulls to get it going. We took it back again and things have just gone from bad to worse. Now they are telling us we have to pay $50 just to get it back and that we must have run the mower without oil so we have now voided our warranty. NEVER AGAIN!

Great workhorse

I have had this mower for 3 years now. It works great in grass up to 6 or 7 inches, with or with out the bag. Love the self propel , helps a whole bunch when you have an acre to mow! Takes me about 3 hours, and the gas tank lasts the whole time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

entire motor jumped out of mower frame

I bought this mower in 2006 from SEARS.Within the first year the bag had a tear and SEARS replaced fairly quickly. From then on the mower seemed louder and louder, didn't bother me much.Had to change the spark plugs and filters often.Stopped using the bag because its fairly small for my yard and time to be stopping and dumping all the time.It does mulch up the grass pretty well never extra grass laying around when I didn't use the bag.In the last year this mower started vibrating a bit much but everything seemed to be cutting well and starting well enough.Well last week when I mowed my husband said "WOW why does it vibrate so much" well I didn't know its been like this for while. So when I began to mow yesterday it got extremly loud and sounded like I had run something over when I went to look the engine had come undone from the frame and was jumping around,I turned it off quickly. When I looked at this and seen my mower was not rusted or anything. No bolts were snapped ,the bolts are still on the engine. Its just not on the frame anymore.I won't be buying anymore of these....be careful!!!This could of been a much worse situation if I hadn't shut this mower off when I did.
