These are tanks. excellent design, long lasting value
[PROS] -Steel deck, -Simple height adjustment mechanisms R less likely to break or slip, -very strong engine , -the front wheel drive design using a drive belt directly from the crankshaft to the wheels is amazingly durable, -The advantage to Front wheel drive is you simple lift the front wheels and pivot on the rears when spinning around. Try that with rear wheel drive, [CONS] no pace control ( I dont like it myself), bag is not the largest, ,,, I swear by this design. Having used this type from sears over 20 years. My newest one is no exception

Good engine; Plastic wheels are trouble
Bought it on sale at Sears in 2009. I don't remember the price. Mostly reliable. Easy start Briggs engine, drive engagement safety and dead-man cut-off (that's so ominous when used in the context of a large blade driven by a gas engine :-) ). Usage: There is a rubber bulb on the front to prime the engine. 2-4 (max!) pushes. This gives me a 2 or 3 pull start even after a long winters nap. Any more pushing on the bulb seems to flood the engine. A flooded engine equals 40 pulls on the cord and a lot of unpleasant language. The engine cutoff and self-propulsion engagement controls are on the push handle. The engine cutoff must be held with the handle for the engine to be started or to run. Drive engagement must be held for the front wheels to turn. No blade clutch - when the engine is running the blade is turning. Clippings bag mounts on the rear. The rear chute can be blocked off with a plug to allow mulching. A vent on the right side of the deck can be propped open with a "clippings redirector". Minor nits: The safety handles are not well "integrated" into the push handle and are uncomfortable after about 4 hours. Even using gloves I end up with a blister on my hand once a year. The bag can only get about 80% full it must be emptied. Some areas fills up with dirt, crud, and grass trimmings and are difficult to clean out. I turn the mower onto it's side to hose off the underside of the deck. Afterwards, when I turn it back upright, the engine is much more difficult to start. To engage the propulsion, the control must be squeezed onto the main push handle after the engine is running. For me (I'm 6' 3") The main push handle comes up below my waist. If I'm leaning into the main push handle with that part of my body when I squeeze the drive safety, certain .... appendages can be caught between the drive safety and main handles. It is a painful experience and a lesson I have to learn every Spring. No, I don't mow in the nude ... during daylight hours anyway ;-) Bigger problems: In mulching mode, the mower runs out of power in tall or thick or damp grass. At some point the left front wheel stopped driving. I removed the wheel and noticed that all the drive teeth were sheared off. New wheel. The bearing sleeve inside the right front wheel rusted to the axle shaft. New wheel. Pluses: Cost. I really wanted a multi-cylinder commercial walk-behind with a deck measured in furlongs and a price to match. My wife, having some sensibility, views lawn mowers like light bulbs and suggested something more affordable that could be replaced in a few years when it fell apart. Fooled her! Four years and it's still running. When the engine has fresh, clean gas, isn't flooded, has a clean air filter and a reasonably new plug, it really does start in 2 pulls, even first start-up in the Spring. I'm always amazed. Bag is easy to get on and off.

Reliable Craftsman

I got a great deal on this lawn mower. I am very happy with the overall quality. I could not afford to spend a lot, but I also did not want to go cheap. This is the perfect lawn mower for the mid-level buyer!

Great mower

I am very happy with this mower. It is a great machine at an excellent price. I did my homework and did a lot of shopping around before choosing this one and it really payed off. It starts first pull every time and cuts very straight and even. Very pleased with my choice.

Amazing

To start off this mower looks extremely attractive. But besides for that this mower will destroy anything in its path, I had a massive weed in my yard that I couldn't get down until now but with the 190cc engine and self propelled front wheels it cut that weed down with ease. I would definitely recommend this mower to a friend.
