These are tanks. excellent design, long lasting value
[PROS] -Steel deck, -Simple height adjustment mechanisms R less likely to break or slip, -very strong engine , -the front wheel drive design using a drive belt directly from the crankshaft to the wheels is amazingly durable, -The advantage to Front wheel drive is you simple lift the front wheels and pivot on the rears when spinning around. Try that with rear wheel drive, [CONS] no pace control ( I dont like it myself), bag is not the largest, ,,, I swear by this design. Having used this type from sears over 20 years. My newest one is no exception

Worst piece of trash we have ever bought
Had lawn mower and used 2-3 times and in the shop, won't start. Returned after 3 weeks used twice won't start again. Store does not stand behind it, says it's the gasoline that is now being sold. I am through with Sears. Their appliances have been trash in our last couple of purchases and now lawn mower. We use to buy nothing but Kenmore and Craftsman. No wonder you guys are going bankrupt.

fairly decent for the price

I have had this mower for almost a year. Starts first or second pull every time. No problems as of yet. The one thing that could be improved is the bag. I get a lot of dust blowing right through it. It could be my soil conditions in central TX but it can be pretty bad on a windy day when it catches you with your mouth open.

Engine Paint Came Off

Just purchased so not sure about a lot on this mower. Seems average quality, but don't get gas on the engine paint. I spilled some gas on the engine and the paint came off like I had used pain remover. Wiped gas off and paint came as well. Never seen this before in all my years as mechanic. Engine paint is suppose to withstand gasoline. I will get engine paint and fix myself. Not with water paint.

WOW!

My first self-propelled mower! Now I'm sold, It starts with one pull every time. I did read before I purchased that it blows a lot of dust and I find that very true. I was covered with dust from head to toe, however I find that it is because of bare spots in the grass. If you don't want the dust don't mow when it's very dry or raise the wheels. The attachment for the water hose clogs frequently but that can be resolved by screwing on a water hose end cap from an old water sprinkler. It comes with a 2 year warranty!

Great for only 1 year.

Worked great the first year, the 2nd year it starts and runs for almost a full bag and will not start again. Have to wait an hour to mow between bags. Replaced gas, spark plug and filter, starts right up but then dies after a few minutes. Salesman said he has heard several people complain about same problem. I am a big Craftsman fan, but this mower has ruined me. It is out of warranty and I am out $300.

Good Mower

Finally broke down and bought a new mower after 25 years. Have used it twice and both times it started on the first pull, started first pull out ot the box. Bag says it's dustless, not really. Handle is a little skinny could use some padding. A little worried about the rear wheels, they look a little flimsy. But so far so good, time will tell.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

About this lawn mower

I just bought this model yesterday and gave it a complete workout...I own one acre, so it was put to the test right away. Pros: Quiet, easy to start, light enough to maneuver tight spaces, self servicing the unit appears easy enough for anyone with minimum mechanical skills. Cons: *The wheel adjustment is cheap (slide bar with no grease inserts) which will need constant lubrication to keep it easily adjustable. * Not much torque, slow speed when propel is engaged * Blade is a light gauge but does an average job Overall: The unit was on sale, so worth the price and a good unit. I recommend using a synthetic blend oil and premium gas for longer life. MTD makes this mower (most models come from MTD as they have bought almost every brand) For the average user this model is adequate. For tough yard conditions, spend more money for a commercial mower. NOTE: do not assume out of the box is ready to go...check all hardware for integrity, cables, etc.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Never did work

Bought this mower, used it 3 times, stalled ALL the time despite me using high octane gas. They replaced carburateur after just 3 uses, gave it back to me, it mowed half my yard, then pull chord wouldn't pull anymore, engine seized up despite having proper amount of oil. Just returned it to Sears for warranty repairs (AGAIN) and they said there's nothing they can do. Junk.
