Got it for my queen. She has to mow her lawn and it allows her to do so without injury or death. A true lifesaver for the passionate lawn owner.
Bought this mower because I thought Craftsmen was a quality product. I was wrong. Has never cut properly from day one. Went back into store and was told it must be my fault. So I bought another blade. Still won't cut. Have had both blades sharpened multiple times last summer. It just won't mulch. Impossible to pull backwards. Struggles to start even with a fully charged battery. Such a disappointment. Would never buy amother mower from Sears again.
This mower is really easy to set up out of the box, and started up right away. Love the electric start, and 190 cc engine is great. Does very nice job mulching. I've heard others complain that this mower doesn't mulch as well as some, but I wait until the morning dew is evaporated and grass is dry, and it does a great job. My only issue with the mower that brought my rating down to 4 stars is that the handle isn't comfortable at all. I'm no wimp, but my hands hurt afterwards, and that doesn't usually happen just from mowing the lawn. It's not enough to make me not like the mower, but it's something the Craftsman people should consider changing for future models. Seems to be very well built and I see many years of good cutting from this machine.
First one I got would not start. I exchanged it and the second one started right up, and in 30seconds the engine blew, sounded like rods snapping! Got a Husqvarna HU700H 160cc 22-in Self-Propelled High Rear Wheel Drive and it rocks. Sears was good about it.
Having bought many Craftsman and Kenmore products, I replaced my old craftsman mower with this one in September 2013. I used it once without issue then parked it for the winter. In spring it would not start. I took it back and had a warranty repair done. It took a few weeks to get it back, but it did run after that. I used it a few more times when again, it would not start. Took it back again and waited several weeks. Finally got irritated and the store replaced it for me since they couldn't even find it in the system. The new one was used once at the end if the 2014 season then parked for winter. This year I got it started and used it once. On the second use I noticed that the drive handle seemed loose. Turns out the cheap plastic posts which extend through the handle to support it have snapped. I am disgusted by the cheap design if this mower. I thought that between Briggs and Stratton and Craftsman, I'd be all set but I guess I was wrong. My only option is to once again return it and have no mower for weeks so they can repair it back to the original cheap garbage quality it was when I bought it. Instead I will fix it myself somehow and make sure to never repeat this mistake. I'll also be sure to tell anyone who will listen to watch out for the apparently new low standards of Craftsman. I am seriously saddened. I always had great pride in owning my Sears products, but I guess I can just chalk it up like most other products made these days, super low standards and a model of short life, replaceable technology instead of long lasting quality.
Seems to work well but controls are harder to use than the Craftsman mower I bought in 2002. The older mower allowed me to set the throttle and simply hold sown the safety bar. On this mower I have a throttle control I have to hold at all times - bad idea. I suspect this was another safety idea pushed by your attornies. And what's with no padding on the handle - cheap, cheap , cheap!!!
I purchased the push version of this with the exact same engine in July 2014. The mower itself was excellent as to it's ability to cut and mulch high grass well. Plenty of power. It handled well and indeed usually started on the first pull. I loved the mower. The good ended there. In my opinion this engine series has a flaw of some kind. Last year it ran well thru November. I ran it out of gas with fuel stabilizer in the fuel to protect the carb for the winter. This spring, new plug ( properly gapped - same as it came with it which itself was a change from their original design ... ? ), oil, blade and filter. It started right up and ran well the first time I used it. The second time ...3 days later ......it started well and then lost power like it was being starved for fuel. I checked things out and found no issues. Fuel less than 7 days old. There was a tapping sound coming from the engine. The only way I could keep it running was to tilt it way back and it sputtered, but ran, which seems a carb problem. Then it quit and would do nothing. I took back to Sears and they put in their canned premium gas and starter fluid and it would not turn over. It is now in the shop after about 30 hours total run time. Mower people want to blame gas when it's a mower engine issue. Design an engine that run on modern gas if you really believe that. I borrowed my neighbor's 10 year old Sears with B&S engine which had not run AT ALL for 7 years and had just set there. I poured some of the same gas in it .. primed it with 4 pumps and IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND RAN. No more proof is needed. Since I have the extended warranty and I am sure it will fail again I will probably buy another maker with a non B&S engine and every time this quits I will let them fix it....or maybe they will get tired and replace it. I do not like what I feel is the injustice of all this. When I bought this I asked what if it failed and they told me they had loaners, so I bought it. Now when I took it back this spring they tell me the Corporate offices told them they could no longer give loaners !!! Other than that Sears themselves were good on this and tried to help but I am still paying someone to mow. I would strongly suggest you avoid this engine series on any model and be very carful on any other B&S.
I have been cutting lawns for 30 years. I took this out of the box and it required 24 to 48 hours of charging for the electric starter to work properly. I charged it for 48 and pressed the button. I heard nothing. I then decided to go the route we all know so I pulled the chord. Once again no luck. I called customer service and asked for help. I was given no other option than to return it. I did. I then stopped by ****** and picked up a Husqvarna (Honda engine) and it started on the first pull and I surely did not buy one with an electric starter (No need for that). I feel that Sears Craftman products are not what they used to be and Briggs and Stratton engines are junk. In conclusion, this product is GARBAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It Never Started !!!!!!
My husband loves the love mower, he has a tractor but loves the fact he can use this in the hard to get spaces. Better built than the last mower we got him from *****.
Great mower it's got to be one of the best push moweres I have ever used. The side cast attachment is vary easy to attach. Bonus feature I would say is the push button start.
