Great Mower
I'll be honest, I bought this for a piece of property that was too big, hilly and rocky for this mower. However, if you have a lot of lawn and not just a raw piece of acreage, this is the mower for you. You can't go wrong with the B&S, but some people seem to think they need the Honda...go figure.

A good mower for a big, level yard
This is a very good mower, if you have the right yard. First, the high points. It was extremely easy to set up. It started on the first pull. It is well made. The engine is very powerful; actually, a little too powerful. If you fully engage the drive lever, you almost have to run to keep up with the mower. It is a great aerobic exercise workout. I tell people that I aerobic mow the grass. I like having 2 drive levers. This helps to hold with alternating hands when mowing large areas. The mower has great ?suck?. It does a job of picking up the grass clippings as well as leaves while mowing. It even picked leaves and many of the acorns up from a concrete drive way. The side discharge is great. It throws the grass clippings away from the mower with a lot of force. I really like the window in the bag. You can easily tell when it is full. The bag door locks up and out of the way when removing the bag. It then releases when you grab the engine kill lever to restart the mower. That is very handy. Now, why I gave it 3 stars which is an average rating. I believe that this would be a 5 star mower if it did not have the single lever wheel height adjustment system. The rear wheels are set about an inch wider on each side than the front wheels and the mower deck. This limits the ability to easily mow close to objects such as fences or home slabs. In addition to this, a rod that is a part of the height adjustment system that connects the 2 rear wheels passes under the rear deck. If you set the deck level in the 1 thru 3 positions, this rod sets lower than the bottom of the deck. The 3 setting seems to equate to a 2? cutting height. This rod then hangs on the grass any place that the lawn is uneven. It is very annoying to be mowing along and then getting hung up. This is less of a problem if you set the position at 4 or higher. I have San Augustine grass which could exaggerate the problem. It is a thick grass with large runners that are above ground. I have used the mower quite a bit in the last month since I bought it online. I have really tried to give it a fair opportunity to perform. But, given the fact that my lawns are small and have trees, flower beds and lots of obstructions, I would not get this particular mower again. However, I would seriously consider a similar mower with individual wheel height adjusters.

EXCELLENT MOWER AT AN EXCELLENT PRICE

OUT OF BOX AND MOWING WITHIN 15 MINUTES!!! Started on second pull! If you have trouble putting this mower together you probably shouldn't be using a mower!! 4 bolts with large plastic covered wingnuts to secure handle(2 at center of handle where it folds and 2 at mower deck to adjust handle height for your comfort) , Add bottle of oil supplied and fill with gas. THAT'S IT PERIOD!!! PLENTY OF POWER!!! Tried it in some thicker grass about 8"-10" tall and it went through it like nothing! Motor didn't even labor! BEST MOWER I HAVE EVER OWNED!!! The Rear Wheel Drive is a first for me and I'd NEVER buy a FWD again!!! I have a VERY steep bank in my back yard that the only way I can cut it is with a weedeater or an older 2 stroke LawnBoy.UP UNTIL NOW!!! This MOWER with it's POWER and REAR WHEEL DRIVE goes right up through it !!! IWAS IMPRESSED WITH IT BEFORE I EVEN TRIED IT ON THE BANK AND HONESTLY I WASN'T EXPECTING IT TO FARE TO WELL ON THE BANK ANYWAY!!!

Great lawnmower!!!!

Glad I purchased this lawn mower! Definitely makes cutting the grass easier, especially with uneven terrain or hills. Essentially no effort is required other than holding on and turning when applicable. :)

Extremely Satisfied

I bought this to replace both a honda and Toro self pacing mower. The Sears is superior to both...especially the expensive Honda. This mower delivers and easily converts from bagging to side discharge. As someone noted it's not particularly good for close trimming but it certainly shines in every other way. I hesitated to buy it at first thinking maybe I should go with the Toro but am very happy with my choise. Adjusting the height is a snap...not so with the others. For my money you can not go wrong with this machine!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Rear Wheel Drive

Not happy with the rear wheel drive.... hard to go around things and most of the time I find myself pushing the mower.... would never buy a rear wheel drive mower again.... doing the front yard with the front wheel drive mower use to take me 20 minutes and I wasn't worn to a frazzle... with the rear wheel drive it takes me an hour and I am totally worn out....

Overall
Good, powerful mower; nicely priced

I bought this mower to replace another 4-year-old Craftsman mower that I didn't maintain correctly. I've used it a few times now. I have approximately 10,000 square feet to mow, and it takes me about 45 minutes to an hour with this mower, depending on how high I let the grass grow. The best feature of this mower is the one lever hight adjustment. The high rear wheels are nice, but so far I haven't seen a big advantage to them. YOU CAN PULL THIS MOWER BACKWARDS: Just release the self-propel handle. That manual even tells you this. The handle bar is uncomfortable, but doesn't seem an worse then the Troy or Husqvarna-branded mowers. List price is high, but I bought this when it was sale-priced, with an additional discount for buying online, and an additional 5% discount for using a Sears card. This makes the mower an exceptional bargain compared to its competitors.

Awesome!

Recently purchased this mower after owning a FWD unit. I purchased this RWD mower because my yard has small slopes . HUGE difference from the FWD unit. LOTS of torque. This thing will have you running at full throttle! The motor is very strong and has a great cut. One-pull start. Almost makes me feel like I have one of those big commercial walk-behinds. I love it!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Was skeptical but the machine proved to be awesome.

I did my homework, convinced I could never find a mower like my Craftsman Eager One. It was 20 years old and never gave me trouble until this year. Well, I decided to let her go for a newer one. I read, searched and pondered. I finally shopped around and decided on this one, even though I was a front drive man. Took it home, easily assembled it and on the first pull...bam...I was mowing. It was lighter, more powerful and much quieter than my old one. I found that cleaning it took a bit more work even with the deck port but I still think its cool. My only complaint may be that he paint on the decks underside is thin (at best) which I feel is the area that will need it most. Time will tell, but so far...WOW..what a machine!!!!! Also, the little window on top of the bag is cool, DADDY LIKEY!!!!!!!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great first use experience

Just got this mower today, so this is after one use. Smooth running, relatively quiet, rear wheel drive works well, even on my hilly yard. Starts on the first pull every time. Very good in bagging mode... picks up all the clippings, even with wet grass. Bag is a good size so you don't have to stop too often. Bag removes easily, empties easily, and goes back on easily. Excellent power, doesn't bog down even with "put off mowing the yard" type tall grass and the drive at a fast speed. Height adjustment works well and easily raises and lowers all four wheels. I found it easy to maneuver, turn around, can pull it backward, even up a slope, you could even mow without the drive at all if you had to; it IS heavier than a push mower or a FWD mower, but that is to be expected. If anything changes after more time with the mower, I'll post again, but my first impression is very, very good.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
